Tips from Elijah Watt Sells winners? Anyone heartbreakingly close?? - Page 2

I read a post a couple days ago by Scottso990 (it was started about a year ago). He received an amazing cumulative score of 95.5 on his exams, but was heartbreakingly shy of the Elijah Watt Sells award. Although I see why that would be bittersweet, I’m SO impressed with these scores. I read through the entire thread and came across some excellent study tips from people with some incredibly high scores… and I’m hoping we can get more input like that here.

For those of you in these shoes, I’m curious what to hear your typical % scores on your homework and practice exams? Were you constantly testing in the 90-100% range? But maybe it was more reasonable – maybe in the 80s?

If you have some tips to share with “the rest of us” – please do. I’m lacking some motivation on this horrible rainy day, studying transaction cycles and ratio analysis in AUD. 🙁

    I just need two 97s and a 99!! lol Actually, I just need to three 75s… 🙂

    FAR - 90
    AUD - 91
    BEC - 86
    REG - 87

@CPA2b, 91 is definitely doable given your past performance on the exams. I was hoping I'd do well enough on BEC to justify pushing for a 97-99 on FAR/REG but oh well.

Just knock out tons of mcq, and do the becker written comm's to practice intro/conclusion, structuring, and employ as many key words as you can. To be honest, I'd even suggest pushing the test back slightly if you think it'll make the difference between getting the award and not.

CPA_2_B- Keep doing what you are doing! You only have 1 week, and while it looks like you are able to do serious studying in a small frame of time, I don't think you'd want to stray too far from your path and work yourself up. Obviously I don't have the scores you do to give you studying habits, but you are doing something right so stay calm and good luck!

Studying with Wiley Review, Wiley Test Bank, Ninja Audio.
    Retakes with Ninja MCQ only...awesome!
    Far - 1/28 72, 7/22 79
    Aud - 2/28 70, 8/14 83

    91 on BEC is doable!

But wow, I can't believe how close you are. Your average is insane. I don't think there's really a lot of advice that I can give at this point; if you're going into your fourth test this strong you probably know exactly what you need to do.

    Good luck!

A 91 is definitely doable! I felt BEC was about on par with AUD in terms of difficulty, and you nailed AUD so I'd say your chances are pretty good. Just keep doing MC and practice going through calculations, I feel like that is more effective than just trying to memorize formulas. Good luck! Jealous!

    AUD 4/4/2014 - 97
    FAR 5/29/2014 - 97
    REG 7/10/2014 - 90

Thanks for all the input and support. I have used Becker all the way so I'm just going to continue to go with it. My test is a week from today so I'm looking over all the chapters again, taking notes, and doing as many MCQs as possible. I'm going to be glued to the study materials this weekend! Hopefully that will be enough to pull a 91.

CPA_2_B – your scores are incredible… Obviously, Becker's worked for you (but… truth be told, YOU deserve more credit than that!!). Amazing and an inspiration! You are going to make so many people jealous with that plaque on the wall… 🙂

Most people say BEC is the “easiest”… You'll have to let us know what happens.

It's been a few weeks since I have posted on this forum, but I thought I would fill everyone in who was kind enough to give me some helpful input on my BEC exam. As it turns out, I got a 93, putting me above a 95.5 cumulative average for my four exams. It's still a little surreal to me as I really never expected this to happen! Once again, thank you everyone for your words of wisdom and I wish you all the best of luck as you carry on with your journey.

    Impressive, congrats! I'm jealous!

I was only 10 points off on BEC lol. It's funny becuase I felt the most confident walking out of BEC compared to the rest and ended up with the lowest score on it. Oh well, 93.25 average ain't bad!

    AUD 4/4/2014 - 97
    FAR 5/29/2014 - 97
