I just got my CPA certificate in from New Mexico and I must say I am quite disappointed on how it looks. I was hoping for something similar in quality to a college degree that I could have nicely framed and hung in my office.

Any one else have this issue with their certificates also?

Seeing as that expires in a year, I wouldn't be surprised if that's just your license and you'll get an official certificate later. At least I would sure hope so 🙂

I reached out to the NM state board and supposedly once the swearing in process happens in April of this year I will get a proper presentation certificate. So I'll let everyone know one that happens.

My Virginia certificate is similar to the picture above. It's very nice and was mailed to make sure it didn't get any bends. Now I just need to buy a frame for it but they are so expensive.

Louisiana's is nice. Huge with nice raised gold seal and original signatures. I already had it matted. I feel like such a professional now.

wow- I just thought I had certificate disappointment- now not only do I have disappointment I have severe certificate envy. Mine is literally a piece of paper on state letterhead (that looks like it has been printed on a bad 1990's inkjet printer or xeroxed several times over) with my license number on it– didn't even come with a congratulatory note. I honestly thought it was a joke at first it looks that unprofessional. My hairdressers license actually looks more official / nicer than mine.

@trele6 Congrats! We were in the same room together that day haha. I took like 4 of those cookies and ate each one with honor and prestige. I find it funny how most other professions host their ceremonies on Fridays/weekends, but us accountants have their swearing in on a monday @ 3pm.

@bigbear86, I was wondering which person you were since you said you would be there. I was in the back row and asked the people next to me if they were you but nope.. :). Was it me or was the seating a little tight unnecessarily?

Those cookies were good! I thought the little business card holder gift was a nice touch also. I would have like for the certificates to have been hand signed instead of stamped? Is that too much to ask??

@trele6 I was in the front row on the far most right. haha I was wondering the same thing. You would think that the Board could at least sign our certificates with a pen after all our hard work, money, and stressful hours getting to that point!? Oh well, I am happy to get the “official” certificate so I can hang it proudly in my office. That will do.

In Indiana you have to log into Indiana state board of accountancy's site and you can print off a free one (they don't even mail it to you). If you want a wallet size and a wall certificate you have to pay money, I think a few bucks for the wallet and $25-30 for the wall. I bought both because I worked way to hard to not have something nice. For what it's worth the wall certificate was legit but I wasn't happy I was charged for it.
