I’ve been enjoying reading your posts lately.
Good knowledge behind them, and very helpful to others.
Although some contain tough love that the posters probably don’t want to hear, as they never seem to post a follow up.

Curious on your username. Is it an abbreviation? or how is it meant to be pronounced?
For some reason I read it as Moniker from NC.
Just curious. Either way, keep being you. Solid posts.

@Recked, I am one that do appreciate Monikernc's comments. Yes, there are some tough love comments as well. I realize that we have to have thick skin when asking for others opinion. Passing the exam kinda give a little bragging/spanking rights. I've had to suck up a few comments from others, not necessarily monikernc, and continue to post questions and comments. But I do realize it is not personal because its's a forum. I enjoy being a ninja, and would love to be a cpa. Sometimes, you just don't know what to say behind tough love as you have given from time to time. But I take in the instructions and corrections to help me pass.
    Just speaking for myself 🙂

WTH? Tough love? Not me! Direct honesty is my thing. Moniker, as in name, and NC as in North Carolina. Tncincy should know me from when I was studying from July 2015 to June 2016. Recked, I recognize your signature – did your name change?
The forum was more active then and skynet was even more random. We were all hilarious at times. I stay in touch with a few outside the forum. This is a much different crowd and the study groups are in the dojo now. We were all so supportive of each other and working really hard to pass. Hours did not pass without a post. Now it seems days can go by. I would like to see it ramp up again. The people waiting to take exams during the covid peak really struggled. I have always dropped in occasionally but more lately During covid and while I went through licensing. This is a crazy journey. It took 4 years after passing to meet the experience requirements and now two months later I am licensed in two states.

My name was changed, but not significantly and it was done a couple years ago now.

The forum does seem completely different, even from when I started coming here back in 2017.
It felt like more a community of people going through the struggle together. Supportive as you said.
Seems weird now. I blame it on the Covid.

Thanks for the clarity on the name.

@monikernc – Wait what do you mean I was more random back in the days?

My doctor told me that rash was going to clear up.🙃

Skynet! You were hi hilarity back in the day:

Oct 1, 2016 Congrats to Golfball7773 for passing!

However, it should be a lesson to Golfball7773 that it was not a good decision to toss a lit cigarette and an open bottle of Jack Daniels into the dumpster before his scheduled REG exam because he needed to relax.

    JK, JK, JK, LOL!

Do you have a year of experience and need someone to attest it for your license?

Hey Monikernc, still working on the experience hours. Past few years have been working for a nonprofit but not under a CPA.

Place I'm working at now do have CPA's that can attest and sign off on my experience, but I want to have a few years under my belt first as there is a lot of things to do and learn. I have barely begun scratching the surface of my job.

As for Golfball, I'm wondering where he's been too. Hopefully he's not throwing cigarettes and bottles of liquor into dumpsters still. It would be such a shame to waste good liquor.

Skynet, I would be willing to work with you on attesting your experience but if I recall you are in CA and I can’t help you. Let me know if you are ever in Colorado!

Skynet, the CPA License is based on minimum qualifications for the profession. Don’t delay licensing one moment beyond being eligible.
