    Hi guys!

    First day here and just wanted to say hi and glad to see that there is a community with other people like me. I have 1 year left before I finish my BA of Science in Accounting degree and I’m thrilled to begin my journey to become a CPA. I currently live in Tampa, FL and I have an uncle that has been a CPA for about 25 years with his own practice. The only problem is I have right now is deciding between the Yaeger review and the Becker review. My uncle took the Becker course and one of current professors actually serves as an instructor with the Becker CPA Review Course so I’m surrounded by everyone telling me to take the Becker. I personally think I will use the Yaeger instead but any insight from you guys is great.

    Thanks again, Dhiaa Edwards

    I went all the way up to my junior year there. My job and the fact that I'm a single father stopped me from contuning there so I was forced to finish my BA online and the University of Phoenix. The program is really good and tough and uses the same Wiley materials as I did there. USF used to be a great school for accounting, at one point they were in the top 10 accounting schools in the nation.

    Wow, thats crazy LOL.

    The Yaeger seems to provide a higher passing rate the first time from what I hear and witness. I just want to pass it and do well. I understand that the AUD seems to give people the most trouble.

    Yup and to top it off AUD was my worst subject in class. That's why I'm dreading it 🙁

    Good luck. The two auditing classes I took were unbearably boring, especially because these professors tend to be monotone. Its nothing like what you do in the field, its just understanding the concepts of auditing.

    @OP

    I was once like you…. Eager to face the challange, enthusiatic, thirsting for knowledge.

    9 months into this I am angry, broken, cynical, bitter and jaded…

    My relationship is on the rocks and my health has never been worse.

    Welcome to your nightmare.

    Don't let reality hit you on the way out because it's the last time you'll see “life” for a very long time.

    Oh yeah, and welcome to the forum!!!

    Thanks Mikey, appreciate it.

    Yes it's that bad and probably worse. Good thing for you is that your college courses are still fresh in your mind. For other Bulls, it's been a while, so studying, working and family are more difficult to juggle. But nonetheless, it's still very challenging. Definitely doable, but a huge sacrifice! Best of luck!!! and GO BULLS!!!

    Does your uncle do tax or audit?

    Thanks Imp.

    My uncles CPA business is tax preparations and tax returns, he's been doing it for a long time now and is well established. He always talks about the old “pencil and paper” test they took for 2.5 days but he's very helpful. He allows me to come in as I please and get some free training. I am working the next tax season with him at his office to get some live training. I know he also does some independent work with companies such as MetLife on the side. He does alot with his CPA cert, another reason I want this. You open the doors for so many other opportunities.
