Hi all – Work at an accounting firm starts for me full time in June. I know a lot of it is what works best for you but is it better to try and knock out FAR or REG first before work starts?

    BEC - 77

    AUD - 85

    REG - TBD

    FAR - Q2

It depends, REG will update in Q3. If had a tax course recently and is fresh in your mind I would do REG first. If not FAR is a popular choice since it has the most content.

    REG: TBD

By update, do you mean the REG content is changing?

Yes, tax portion always updates in Summer so 2017 tax updates go into effect in Q3.

I would say it depends. If you're going to be in the tax department, I'd take FAR first because you'll be learning REG on the job. If you're not in the tax department, I'd start with REG because you'll probably be learning FAR on the job. As titoav15 says, if you had a course on either one recently, you may want to take that one first as it will be fresh in your mind.

I would agree with what the person said above. Depends on the experience you're going to be gaining. My personal preference would be to take FAR first. FAR has so so much information. Not saying REG does not, but definitely FAR was a beast. I'd definitely would want as much free time as possible to pass that section of the CPA exam.
