I found out I got 72 for the 3rd time! I’m quite frustrated but I will get over it. I’m just not too sure how to approach for the next exam at this point. I really do need to pass on the next window; otherwise, “FAR expires” in Q1 2016. I’m contemplating getting Becker question banks… below ignore the 1st 100 hours i spent prior to the 1st 72.

1st 72 (spent 86 hours): listened through all Yaeger lectures, solved most problems on Wiley MCQ.

    2nd 72 (spent 50 hours)

Strategy: to get over the hump so listened to Yaeger cram

    -solved 1000 Ninja MCQ

Took a quarter off, moved onto Reg and passed it

    3rd 72 (spent 140 hours)

Strategy: start fresh and lock down on concepts while focusing on SIMs

    -listened through all Yaeger lectures

-resolved Wiley questions I was having trouble

-reset and solved 1000 Ninja MCQ, solved all Ninja SIMs at least once

-read and and studied Wiley text

-read through many AU-C, AR, PCAOB standards as I was solving problems.

I’m just seeking an honest advice how to approach for the next sit in. I’m thinking about getting Becker question sets. Do you think Becker questions might prepare you better than Ninja MCQs? Any other study advice would be grateful.

It helped for me to write the book from scratch, No Becker, no book. Just questions and organizing my notes by chapter and section. I drew my own illustrations and wrote the text for the Enrolled Agent Exam, Regulation CPA Exam, Audit CPA Exam, and now working on writing BEC. I wake up at 5am, go to the gym, go to work for a full day and then study all evening… every single day. Someday I will have a life. 🙂

@for25 Lectures 1-2 won't hurt you right now. You can always go over them later. It's very important to know every subtopic but at this point you don't need to nail it down. Lecture three I believe is very important. Lecture three and four are like a combo. You need to know them very well as a group. You need to every subtopic to move on. What happens when you accept and an engagement or which things you do BEFORE accepting an engagement. Then planning and supervisions is a very important phase. You need to know how the planning and supervision process very well to find out the difference between it and Auditing procedures, Otherwise you would keep getting confused what's done where. Audit risk and Fraud risk are relatively easier but you need to pay attention to details here. Wording is important. You don't have to nail down the concepts in first try, just get the basics and keep building on it. Picture yourself an auditor and assume you are ACTUALLY doing that, Also can't stress this enough Internal Control subtopic is VERY IMPORTANT!

Also, in lecture 1 (or was it two) go over pro forma financial statements as well. Becker doesn't over them in detail but in my exam I had so many questions on them. It made me really mad! lol

    Good luck!

FAR May 2012 81 (lost credit, didn't sit for other sections.)
    FAR 86 Aug 2015
    AUD 85 Nov 2015
    BEC 84 Dec 2015
    REG 78 Mar 2016

Passed ALL sections in first attempt!!

If your scoring in the 70s its prob b/c your sims are out of wack or your MCQ game is weak or either or. Who knows how they really grade things. I took aud 4 times I was soo desperate I ended up purchasing so many things I didn't need. My MCQ game was always strong for my first 3, but my SIM was just down right dirty with weaker everysingle time. If you're having problems with MCQ remember some things like what cycle are you in or what part of the engagement are you in. If youre doing a Review most likely the other 3 answers will be for an audit or comp. So try and look at patterns. Audit is very tricky especially with the wording sometimes. But do the SIM practice, it goes a long way. I ended up with my highest score in AUD b/c of the sim practice.

I received 70 and 71 on last two AUD attempts. Used Ninja MC both times and my avg score was very similar to my test score (within 1 point each time). Do you think purchasing Ninja Notes will get me over the hump this time?
