@re2pect I think I understand now. I have to go back and look at that question I struggled with. I think it might have been a loss and not recognized so maybe that threw me off.

I'm home safe from my REG exam. So happpy that is done. Thank God I did not get that new type of SIM that would have freaked me out. I know I got my research question correct so that gives me confidence. All in all there were only few topics that I do not recal seeing in Becker and ninja. The way they layer some of the questions and SIMs it's like an evil genius makes this stuff up. It felt like it tested 3 simple concepts and not just 1 big one.

Moving onto BEC tonight for a early Feb test date.

Hello I am starting my studies for Regulation and need to take exams by feb 2017, I have studied corporate taxes long time back and barely remember anything. For passing REG on first attempt , do i need to study some reference books apart from taking a review course.
Thanks a ton for your reply

@aatoural- In regards to the sim you mentioned, the last sentence says that the following is Jake's share so you don't have to allocate 50% to his portion.

Hey guys! Just joined the group. Just started studying for REG(1st exam) – newbee. How long in advance would you recommend scheduling the exam? Not sure how much time of studying is needed for one part. Also, I have Becker to study with. Thanks!

    @Potat0eHead welcome!

You will hear this a lot – everyone is different so everyone needs a different amount of time to master the material. Are you planning on taking the exam before the end of Q1?

I would say 6-8 weeks for REG but it all depends on your schedule and how many hours a week you are able to dedicate to studying.

One advise I would give you is to allow yourself at least 2 weeks for review, this is when the material starts to “click” and you identify your weak areas.

I think after you start studying you will know how long it takes you to go through each chapter. Chapters 1 through 4 take a little longer to cover because they involve calculations, you should be able to get through 2 chapters a week for the remaining 4.

I use Becker too and I pretty much followed the study plan but I studied for REG for 6 weeks. I work full time and have a family so my study time was very limited. I did not give myself enough time to review so the result is obvious – I am back here.

    Good luck!

@namstut thank you! Much needed I guess.

So 6 weeks. Yes I want to do before April change so February 31 is my last date to register?

I will be studying for The exam full time. Luckily have this opportunity..

@Potat0eHead I hope you mean January 31st. I don't know whether or not there is a cut off date to register. I would look at your Prometric site to see when they have available dates to sit for the exam. With upcoming changes in Q2 it's been harder to find an opening to register. The last date to sit for Q1 window is March 10th. Did you already apply for your NTS? Depending on the state it can take a while to receive it, so if you didn't already apply I would do it as soon as possible.

Why January 31? If I start studying now and 6 weeks from now on will be exactly end of February so that's when I want to register for, no? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I will check the available dates and I guess will have to book the date now as well before it's taken.

Yes I have applied and received NTS few weeks back.

Alrighty gang! 6 hours before my REG so it's time to wrap up and go to sleep. Actually, sleeps have now become naps.

I will check in tomorrow after the exam.

    Happy studying!
