When is the AGI floor for medical expenses 10% and when is it 7.5%? Becker questions keep jumping back and forth

    @Sunni – I thought 7.5% is used when taxpayer is 65+

    Sunni,

I have heard two CPA review courses say not to get tied down with phase outs because they change so regularly. However, they also said there are 2 phaseout you want to know and they are:

    Section 179 rule (25,000/200,000)

    and

Mom and Pop Rule for passive activity loss, which is eliminated when AGI reaches 150,000.

    Good luck!

@Cracked @BEA But for AMT purposes, even if the person is over 65, you still use 10% and not 7.5%

hey anyone who has either taken the exam recently or is currently studying:

how important is the domestic production deduction stuff? I am doing my final review and I dont remember doing any questions related to it but i noticed becker has an entire page dedicated to information on the topic.

Tough times don't last. Tough people do.

Could someone confirm, what is the penalty for: “Failure to be diligent in determining a client's Eligibility for the Earned Income Credit”

    $100 or $500 ?

One of the solutions in the becker software says $100, whereas in the book it is $500.

If you fail to comply with EITC due diligence requirements, the IRS can assess a $500 penalty

against you and your employer for each failure (IRC ยง6695(g)).

Taking this in Q2. Just failed AUD for the first time by 5 points. Ouch. Starting REG tomorrow.

    Graduated from college 12/13/14
    AUD 8/31/15 - 74. Retake - Passed

Well I've once again fallen into the angry pit of “Authoritative Literature doesn't let you search for characters (-, $, etc.)” feeling again. How am I supposed to find “start-up costs” if you won't let me search for “start-up”?

    AUD - 08/04/14 - 83
    FAR - 11/29/14 - 80
    REG - 02/26/15 - 89
    BEC - 05/30/15 - 86

    DONE!

@thelonewolf527 yeah it is SUPER frustrating. Maybe try “start” and “up”? I've had that problem with a few different things I was trying to search.
