    For some reason I am just realizing that there are two AMT calculations- one for individuals and one for C corps. Correct? Is the one for C Corps the one most tested? Or am I just confused…Ninja has one calculation, Becker has two.

    @Gabe,

    I'm out here….moving a little slow going between work and studying. having trouble with focus. Good to see your study coming along. Working on individual tax, soon to move on to partnership. Listening to holiday music on sirrus radio. Plan to study all day if I can get rid of this drab mood.

    @mamabear,

    At what point should I add the ninja mcq's. I have the wiley test bank, but just want to be ready to pass this time.

    @tncincy I'm not mamabear, but I have been going through Becker to “get a feel” for everything then plan on switching into full Ninja MCQ mode. It helped me pass FAR (after 3 previous tries), BEC (1st time), and AUD (2nd time).

    When I did my AUD re-take I just did full on Ninja MCQ from the get go until my average was in the high 70's/low 80's

    Thanks Gabe, I'll take advice from anyone at this point. I want to have an effective study method. I have wiley, cpaexcel, and the ninja audio and notes. Cpaexcel is ok, but it is time consuming. I keep trying to find a way to use it (since I purchased the full course almost two years ago) but I lose interest really fast. I'll keep your advice in mind. Thanks

    Hello all,

    Working on R3 homework. On the long section and losing my focus for the night about half way through and so I needed to stop because I was making careless mistakes. Hoping to get through R3 this weekend and then spend next week (traveling) reviewing R1-3 when I get time throughout the week. In the past I have made the mistake of just moving on and then overtime I forget the material. I do not want to make that mistake this time.

    Also, to add to the advice tncincy – Don't try to become a master at all the test banks. I have read this advice before and I truly believe it myself. I think if you utilize one test bank to its ability, and then move on to the next, that is the best way. I know I could have passed BEC (and AUD) the first time I took them if I would have utilized Becker to its full advantage (And had more time to study of course). I do think Ninja mcq and notes are good supplements. I am a fan of the audio (I believe it is very similar to the notes) because I can utilize this on my commute and it doesn't take time away from doing MCQ's.

    These are just some things I have learned over the past year. I think everyone is different, too. I would just advise not to get too bogged down with testbanks. You definitely don't need to master multiple test banks to pass. Mainly, just keep practicing your weak areas and you will get there! It is painful to keep looking at things you despise and don't understand, but that is how you pass.

    jstay – well I still have no idea how I pulled that off. LOL but for me it was SIMS SIMS SIMS. I knew the material pretty well the first time around but bombed the SIMS. I got a subscription to the AICPA Full Authoritative Literature so I would know how to navigate it better since the review courses do not show the entire thing. I believe all you need it your NTS and the subscription is 90 days. So, I got that and then practiced the Becker SIMS at least once or twice more, did the Wiley SIMS (which a lot of them were similar to Becker) but it just gave me more practice and made me more comfortable doing them. Again, not sure how I got a 91 but I mainly focused on my weak spots the second time around!

    Quick question – I have the Reg 1.1 book but noticed that a lot of the data is related to 2014 (i.e. the exemption value is 3,950 in 2014 whereas it's 4,000 in 2015). Should I have gotten a newly updated book from Becker or should I be researching new limits on the irs website? I'm kind of confused why they would send me the 2014 book instead of 2015.

    @NJPRU you'll be fine considering that all the 2014 tax rules will be tested this in Q1. The rules don't change until 6 months into the year. So starting 6/31/2015 forward you will need the 2015 rules
