Hi all, I'm just starting to study for Reg (again) and I already hate it….just so much information! I am also finding that the individual tax is my downfall…any suggestions?

I passed AUD and BEC years ago and unfortunately I didn't get through the rest in time and lost my credit. It has been several years since then and it is slow going getting back into it. Any tips are welcome!

@ammckenz – I was in the same boat! I had passed the same two, I started with audit since I had already passed it. I failed the first time (this go around). After that I really kicked myself in the a$$ I studied non stop, listened and read NINJA, did MCQ and pretty much spent all my free time. You can do this! Make a plan stick to it, we are here to help!

@Quailman I hear that! So hard to study waiting for a score hopefully you'll see a pass this week and you'll be able to give REG all you've got!

Goal 2-3 hours tonight, anyone else?

    A - 61, 91!!
    B - 78!
    F - 76!!!
    R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!

    Finally done!

This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!

Can someone help me with this explanation, i believe i am just misunderstanding. Why is only the $11,000 allowable?

Farr, an unmarried taxpayer, had $70,000 of adjusted gross income and the following deductions for regular income tax purposes:

Home mortgage interest on a loan to acquire a principal residence $ 11,000

Miscellaneous itemized deductions above the threshold limitation 2,000

What are Farr's total allowable itemized deductions for computing alternative minimum taxable income?

@dsteele139: As per your question when calculating AMT an adjustment of subject to 2% test are added back and interest deduction on home mortgage is allowed, this is the reason why Misc. Itemized deduction are not allowed.
