    I’m studying for REG right now and cant seem to focus. There are so many little details and rules that you have to memorize. With FAR, if you understand it, you’ll be good to go….I feel like dying w/ REG now. I have 5 more weeks and still have tons of stuff to cover :(((….ARGHHH

    FAR 5/14 88 PASSED!
    REG 7/13 74 :((((((((....! I cant believe it!!!! I studied so hard...
    REG retake 11/29 -> 89!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    BEC 10/11/12 -> 84!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    AUD 10/25/12 -> 95!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I'm DONE! OMG 8 months of hard work.

    I SHALL PASS. BECAUSE IT'S ME, SO EVERYTHING WILL BE OK!

    It really depends on the test taker. For me REG was the easiest, I took it once with very little studying and ended up passing. I personally think for me that AUD is the hardest.

    Reg 4/18/12 78
    Far 7/30/12 74, 74, 75
    Bec 11/11/12 74, 78
    Aud TBD 51, 71, XX

    Ha ha …CPAMan hit the nail on the head..95% & 5%! So true from experience. Gleim & Wiley helped.

    @Accrual World- I agree. The only thing I would recommend that you DON'T memorize is the tax baskets. Just know how to use them, but don't memorize the whole chart. If you're given a question, they'll give you the rate or chart to use. Other than that, I do recommend that you study as much as possible, even the stuff that changes.

    I think they made REG harder on purpose. Before 2011, REG would get a pass rate above 50%. In 2010, it had the highest pass rate in all four quarters. In fact, in the 3rd quarter of 2010, it had a 54% pass rate. Now, in 2011 and 2012, it barely gets passed 45% and it had the lowest pass rate on several quarters. Something tells me that REG never used to be this detailed, but it is now, which is why the pass rate doesn't reach 54% like it used to.

    I got a simulation that was briefly mentioned in one paragraph in my book and never mentioned again. I've gone through thousands of MCQs without ever encountering this topic

    worst thing about it is, it isnt a topic that is particularly difficult but hardly ever mentioned because its such a small part of the COSO . The AICPA decided to screw me over

    BEC- 80

    I agree with CPAMan as well. The 5% of content that was on my test was arbitrary and the smallest part of my review book – if it was in there at all. Still hoping for a miracle tomorrow.

    FAR Passed * AUD Passed * BEC Passed * REG - Round two on 5/30

    studying for FAR was WAY worse than studying for REG, even though i dont have any tax background/experience. the exams themselves- FAR MC were tough but sims were doable. REG MC were okay but sims were seemingly impossible. I thought for sure i had failed both. i had no glimmer of hope on REG. then bam. surprise surprise with the scores. all in all, REG exam is very difficult.

    Obviously I haven't passed either section, but FAR felt harder for me because I have a tax background.

    The thing that is “comforting” about REG is that while there is a lot of detail, the material is not as immense and overwhelming. I felt like I was able to get through the videos quicker and start the review process earlier. With FAR I felt as though I was never able to review everything properly.

    With REG I think it requires more “touches” to pick up details. Get through your videos taking DETAILED notes and then follow the NINJA strategy. You will want to “touch” everything several times. Do as many MCP's as you can. A common weakness seems to be SIMs, practice those as well.

    Like others have said, leave no stone unturned. I spent several hours learning how to calculate something that I thought would be obvious for the exam. It was lightly tested, while many other details that I considered peripheral were covered. Also, do not underestimate how the exam is weighted. Some feel they took a tax exam, while others felt it was a law exam. Be prepared to take either.

    Towards the end of your review take a couple of full blown practice exams. Time management is key, it will help your confidence to know that you completed the exam in the allotted time before.

    REG is the hardest section to pass, followed by AUD, and then FAR. BEC doesnt count, its too easy

    BEC- 80
    REG- 68, 71, July
    AUD- 61 , 84
    FAR- -- 75 🙂

    Let me put it this way…. FAR is harder than REG because FAR is a 4 hour exam while REG is only 3 hours.

    Joking. 😀

    “BEC doesnt count, its too easy”

    Be careful, goodluck. Keeptrying is going to hunt you down for saying that. 😉

    I find bec easy, she finds reg easy. Didn't she go 3/3? I'm 0/2 and still struggling with it lol

    BEC- 80
    REG- 68, 71, July
    AUD- 61 , 84

    I don't understand this thread. So much energy is wasted comparing which test is harder. I found out I passed FAR three weeks ago. The time between when I took my test and score release was so overwhelming, my dad getting sick, and studying for AUD and other things. Why would you do something like telling yourself Reg is harder and overwhelm yourself? I cried seven days straight after the exam and couldn't sleep. I am going to study as much as I can for REG regardless. And I am not going to waste time letting the test itself eat me up.

    I know this was just a silly statement. But I had a tough time with FAR, a lot of wasted sleepless nights and tears. I only want to focus on the material this time around.

    @goodluck- I think so, but she had to retake because she lost the credit, but she never failed REG. So, in her opinion, REG is too easy. 🙂

    We all have our beasts. Each person is different.

    I passed REG after three attempts. The third time was a charm. The same will happen to you. The AICPA just wanted us to take it three times. 😀

    #353158

    lol AICPA loves killing me with the SIMs 😀

    BEC- 80
    REG- 68, 71, July
    AUD- 61 , 84
    FAR- -- 75 🙂
