@ Zena (from AICPA Website: https://www.cpa-exam.org/cpa/computer_faqs_2.html)

What are the rules regarding new accounting and auditing pronouncements?

For the federal taxation area, the Internal Revenue Code and federal tax regulations in effect six months before the beginning of the current window may be tested.

For all other subjects covered in the Regulation (REG) and Business Environment and Concepts (BEC) sections, materials eligible to be tested include federal laws in the window beginning six months after their effective date, and uniform acts in the window beginning one year after their adoption by a simple majority of the jurisdictions.

    FAR - 78
    AUD - 86
    REG - 77

Thanks Lee and Vespa. I'm sorry, my question was not very clear. What I mean is, if I get a potential question where I have to use, say the additional deduction for the blind and/or old in some calculation, if the question indicates that the year is 2008 I use $1,350 (for single or head of household) and if the question indicates the year to be 2009, I use $1,400. Do you get a mixture of questions, where some use 2008 and some 2009 and you have to know both amounts? I hope you're right Lee and all the worry will be for nothing.

Were 2009 amounts in effect 6 months ago? I wish, with taxes anyway, AICPA would just be clear about it and say which year amounts we should know. My 2010 Becker text only teaches 2009 amounts so I just assumed I didn't need to bother with the 2008, but I'd like to be a little more sure.

Zena – they won't ask you anything like that…Regulation is surprisingly theory-based…just know your 179 phaseout/deduction and don't bother with the rest.

Thanks Jeff. Can't wait for next Friday. Not in that I'm prepared and ready but in that I am so sick of studying. The, hopefully, last few hundred yards at the end of the marathon…and one more hurdle to clear next week – the AUD score.

    Hey Jeff-

I took REG today, and I felt that it was kind of ease, problems were straight forward, is that mean that I probably did not do well?

    REG 2/12/2010 75
    AUD 5/28/2010 91
    FAR 59/69 7/1/2010 76
    BEC 59 retake 10/7/ Waiting

It probably means you were well-prepared.

On my REG section that I scored a 92, I thought it was a solid exam, but not the monster I experienced when i scored a 74.

I take Reg this Thursday. I get my AUD and FAR scores back this week!! I am keeping my fingers crossed that after Thursday I can call the CPA a distant memory. Any last minute tips?? I took a practice test (Becker) last night and got 74% of the MC right and about 75% of the sims right. I plan on taking another practice test tonight. And Im trying to decide if I should even check my audit score Wed night before Reg. I don't want to be bummed on Thursday morning if I dont get the scores Im hoping for.

    Good luck everyone!

    BEC - 79; FAR-79, AUD-80, REG-80

    HOLY CRAP I DID IT!!!!

jmjones4 – If you scored 74-75% on the Becker Practice exam, I think you will be alright. Just go over what you missed and see if you can identify a weak area and study that. Good Luck on your exam. Took REG on Feb 2 and thought Becker Practice Exams where far more difficult than the real exam. I don't think you are going to have to worry about checking your AUD score on Wednesday. Since BEC is always released first, I think the earliest AUD can be released by AICPA is Wednesday so if you are a NASBA state the earliest would be Thursday night. At this point, I would forget about checking and concentrate on the exam, since the chances are virtually nil. About the only way you will see a score on Wednesday if BEC and AUD got released by the AICPA on the same day. I have not seen two exams initial released on the same day since I started this journey a year ago. Again, concentrate on REG which is under your control and let everything else happen. Good Luck.

I hope it is only a week left. I seen REG released from 2nd to last. You just never know how it is going to play out. Either way, the biggest thing is that I hope I do not get pushed to wave 2. I really do not think either simulation was new but you never can tell.

I was pushed into wave 2 last time, but I had no idea if it was because it was a new simulation or I was borderline… probably the 2nd.
