I need help with Reg….I am studying with Becker and Can anybody tell me which parts should I emphasize more? and what should I study in Tax and Laws section specifically…thank you

Lee_IN…. i am taking these practice exams for the becker software and i am not doing well at all on them. i am finishing the exam with like 45 min to spare on these practices. did anybody else do terrible on the practices and end up passing the exam? if so, i hope i'm one of those people.

Hopeful_cpa – I have yet to pass a Becker Practice Final Exam. I usually score in the mid 60s. From my experience and reading others with similar experience, Becker Practice Final Exams are more difficult than the real thing and from my personal experience I have scored about 15 points higher than the practice exams. However, I usually have done well (80%+) on the progress test and simulated test in the Becker software.

One thing that really helped me when I took REG on 1/2 was not second guessing myself on the multiple choice and therefore, giving myself enough time for each simulation. On each simulation I was able to use the research tab to look up topics that helped me with the memo and other tabs. This was the first time I spent about an hour on each simulation and I feel like it might have made enough of a difference!

I took REG 1/27. Jeff, what do you say chances are that you pass the exam by doing really well on MC but not completing either simulation? My sims were absolutely awful. I didn't do the communication on either one. This is the first time I've run out of time on this exam. This was my 3rd try and my story is the same as yours. I failed REG twice with a 74 and lost FAR the last time.

I know in my heart I did really well on the MC. What's your honest opinion? Love this site. Thanks.

I just took Reg yesterday. I had a lot more questions on the business law than I thought I was going to get. With that said, during the test they seemed really random and out of ‘left field' but after I got home and looked some of them up they were very BASIC. The reason why these were hard on the test for me was due to the fact that when I was studying these topics I just breezed over them and thought I would be able to ‘wing it' on the test. That was stupid because I had apprx. half of my MC questions on concepts other than tax.

I am taking REG Monday, and I have worked the Becker final exams. There were several questions involving the gift exclusion of 12K ('08). If I get one of these on the exam, are they going to want the new '09 number of 13,000? I have heard those usually don't test on amounts that change yearly, but since I have seen so many on the becker exam I am worried!

cmb2009 – Since I take REG on Tuesday, this would be nice to know. My guess is the answer will tell you which one they are using. I would think that if they wanted you to use $12,000 the answer will be there and $13,000 would not or vice versa. Anyone else have any thoughts? However, I would not put anything past AICPA. Good Luck on Monday.

Anyone have any tips on differentiating the different rules for fraud, negligence, gross negligence, scienter, etc? I am having trouble because it seems there are different rules with each different lecture, and I get them all confused! Exam is tomorrow…really wanting it to be my last!

cmb2009- all i can say after taking the exam this past thursday is know the different sections with what they relate to, for example, section 11 and so on. each one of these sections has their own rules on what fraud or negligence or gross negligence is. take a look at that.
