I’m using becker and think I’m grasping the material pretty well… I’ve been doing a final review for 10 days or so now, and still have 9 days left.

Like others in my boat, I’m looking for things to focus on outside the normal becker q’s, notecards, etc. Please let me know if you think I should focus my time on any specific chapters, concepts, etc. Just looking for areas that might be pretty light in Becker compared to other prep courses. Thanks

    skiw97-

I just took REG today and it was rough. I used Becker for the three other exams and it was great. For REG, I decided to also purchase Yaeger/Wiley and used both. 8-12% of the exam is transactions in property and I feel that Becker glosses over this. This includes like-kind exchanges, 1231, 1245 assets ect. Also, my advise is to focus on corporate taxation (R3 and R4). This is a large part of the exam.

    Hope this helps!

Thanks man. R3 and R4 def have a lot of things to remember/grasp for all the different types of transactions.

I took REG on Monday and I agree with “need to pass”: study corporations. Also, ethics: a lot. Don't overdo business law unless this is your weakness. Do basis: a lot…

I would definitely review all the tax chapters to make sure the info is still fresh in your mind. One big mistake of mine was that I did not review tax enough and therefore stumbled on some questions that I would have definitely known, had I not spent so much time on law the last couple of weeks before my exam. I wish Becker structured their chapters differently, as someone else said, so that the law stuff is first and then the tax stuff second. Good luck!

Make sure that you study and understand how Installment sales function and how is it presented in the tax return. I also agree with corporations and partnerships, where do you use base and when do you use FMV, Alternative minimum tax too.
