Hello everyone,

Could anyone kindly clarify the treatment regarding a partner loan to partnership. As the partner’s basis increases by the proportion of his/her interest in the partnership when the partnership’s liabilities go up. Is it the same case when a partner loan to a partnership?

I’ve seen different answers that when a partner loan to partnership, the loan is allocated 100% to the lending partner rather than allocation between each partner.

Please kindly advise.
