I like it, great school districts, and easy access to toll roads. Ideally I would rather be living in Austin but since the hubby got Big 4 Houston…it's where we are now. My husband grew up in Conroe so before we lived in Austin we lived in The Woodlands So that's why we came back to this same area. It is very familiar for us. I don't think I've ever really been to Deer Park….did you grow up in Deer Park?

    Congratulations to your husband!!

I actually grew up in Pasadena and moved to Deer Park in high school. So my family has lived in Deer Park since about 2004. My wife and I technically live in Pasadena right now because when we got married last year we moved into some apartments just on the edge of town, but just bought a house in Deer Park.

Its honestly not the greatest place to live in or around Houston. Not because it isn't safe or anything (its actually a very safe place to live), but the chemical plants are just north of us so it has kind of an industrial feel to it. I like it there though, Deer Park has good schools and it has that small town feel to it – cheap houses and close families.

I mailed my stuff in on Friday the 16th. I got an email yesterday because there was some confusion on my job description. After I satisfied that he told me they were oking my application for approval.

Dp stands for double play, I'm an old ball player. Lol.

I live in Katy and work on west side of Houston.

That's interesting. Im going to call tomorrow and see if mailing in on Monday the 19th is going to make me miss the cut off. Its really only two “mail” days after Friday the 16th. I hope they don't get mad for bugging them, but I guess they are just going to have to understand how important this is to us. 🙂

Oh that's cool. A lot of Houston area on the forum.

I'll see you guys on June 16th!

They called me today and said I passed my conduct exam and made the cut-off for June!

So I will see you there. I'm going to make a whole weekend of it and stay in San Antonio on the riverwalk with my wife, parents, wife's parents, aunts and uncles, brother-in-law, sister-in-law and neice, and maybe my sister, her husband and my other neice!

Sometimes I think they might be more excited than I am! Then I think, “No way, I'm pumped!”.

Are y'all going to be bringing family?

can you still log in to your account? I only ask because I still can and I remember my husband not being able to log in.

I checked and I still can. What they told me was that I passed and would receive my RSVP for the ceremony, but that the registration won't be complete until Friday (as in the registration letters go out on Friday). So, I wonder if they will close our accounts on Friday or once we pay our licensing fee.

They had told my husband that once the license was in the issuing process you can no longer log in as an “exam candidate”. I will say I like this waiting game much better than the last waiting game of waiting of scores!

I fully agree with you!! So are we being issued our license currently? Or does that process start after we pay the licensing fee once we receive our registration letter?

This is all very similar to the Capital One (I think) commercial where you earn points, and convert points to credits and trade in your credits for tokens.

and apparently in my last post i don't know how to speak english…LOL. They are probably issuing license #s. I don't remember much of what my husband had to do…especially since his firm paid for everything. But to answer your question earlier…I am inviting my family and close friends to the ceremony. It's a HUGE deal for me….after as many tries as I had…lol

No worries I read it how you meant it. I had to go back and re-read 5 times to see what mistake you were talking about. 🙂

It's nice to have firms paying for all of it. This whole process has cost me $197 or so (for my AUD retake) and my firm picked up the tab for everything else.

It's really cool that you and your husband are both (within one week at least, once you get your license number) CPAs!!

We have a couple that works here that have been shareholders for SOOO long and they are married. They are good at being professional though, I didn't know they were married for almost 8 months!

My wife is an RN with a BSN. she is ready to quit though cause she is ready for kids! :O

Im glad I won't be the only one traveling in a pack that weekend! Im glad you kept going and conquered this thing. All of us are Mighty CPAs now.

I'm not sure when exactly we pay the license fees.
