Welcome Yankee! For me the shock hasn't subsided yet, even tho its been almost a year Some days I still can't believe I passed and am licensed. That's why I still hang around this forum. How many times did you check your score and who's buying you dinners?

Mla hope you get your license soon!

    @ Herbiherb

Do you have to be a licensed cpa in order to apply for CGMA? I have passed all the four sections and recently working on getting the license. Its is going to be a while though since I am taking classes right now to fulfill my credit education ( credit hours ) requirement. I should be done by the end of MAY. However, I am a member of AICPA. ( Associate member ) I was just wondering if I would qualify for CGMA. And yes, I do have three years experience.

Btw, The email address cpa.com is really kool. I will definitely get it. Since I do not have a license at this moment, this email address would really help me. I am looking for some senior level accounting positions. If I use this email to send my resume around, I am sure the HR would not miss my resume. You knwo what I mean.. Since I cannot put cpa in my resume, the email would definitely catch attention…and atleast my resume will be scaned carefully which in turn would let the employer know that I have passed all the sections and on my way to get licensed…So this email is kind of a great help for me..Thanks for bringing it to our attention..

@cpaguru – You have to be licensed for BOTH the CGMA and the CPA email address.

For the CGMA, you have to be a voting member of the AICPA, not an associate member:

For the CPA email, you have to actually be a CPA:

@minimorty – read the article on the management of the AICPA. Interesting and especially on the part on IFRS and its inclusion on the CPA exams. I don't think any accounting class I took touched upon IFRS topics and I know I didn't do well on any exam questions.

@jints – Yeah, having to learn two different standards was a grind. At least we got through it.

I have sort of a love/hate relationship with the AICPA. They do a lot of good things, but they also do a lot of bad things. We'll see where everything goes in the next decade.

Soooo happy you passed 🙂 I had to erase part of my post on the thread where everyone was congratulating you b/c I didn't want to rub it in the face of those who didn't pass yet…but here I can write it…

So, doesn't it feel amazing?! Freedom!!! Time to get life back together and not have this hanging over your head! Enjoy!!!!

There are some good discussions in the LinkedIn group CGMA if you guys are interested or want to learn more about the designation. I am still trying to learn more about it before making any decisions.

Definitely feels like a freebie for being a CPA and member of aicpa . They mention stuff about grandfathering? What's all that about??

    Freedom is a sweet thing!

I've already started to lose some of the extra pounds just by being happier 😀
