AnonymousInactiveCongratulations fellow A71 alumni!! It was a remarkable journey and an achievement for which we should all be proud. I know I am.
I was hoping someone may help me. I just passed the exam. I sat for the exam in New York and now I'm looking to obtain my initial license. I meet all the requirements for licensure in NY. However, I live in GA. I do not plan to work as a public accountant. I'm more of a corporate accountant on the Controller track. Right now, I'm applying for jobs. If I'm working and living in GA but I'm not necessarily working in public accounting or representing myself as a business offering CPA services, do I need to have a GA CPA license? Can I still call myself a CPA, for instance on my resume, if I'm not licensed in the State where I intend to work? all I want is to have my CPA title on my resume and business card. Also, I meet the NYS experience requirement, but I do not meet the GA requirement. For an initial license, GA requires that your 1 year work experience be completed within 1 year prior to the date of the application. NYS just requires a year of experience. Since I've been out of work for more than a year now, I meet NYS requirement, not Georgia's.
Thank you in advance for your time in helping me. I know you have better things to do.
Tim

AnonymousInactiveThis is actually my first post, but I have been reading this website since I began this nightmare they call the CPA exam. I found out earlier this week that I passed my final section (REG) of the exam!!! I have been lucky enough to pass both the CMA and CPA exams on my first attempt.
Now that it's all over, I kind of feel like I'm not sure what to do with myself… My four kids (yes, four kids under the age of four at the time) keep me busy, but I still feel like there is a void after sacrificing my life to this process for the last nine months.
Once I get my experience verified by my past employer, I will finally be able to apply for my license. I am hoping to be licensed by the end of the year! I still can't believe this is all over…

kandisjoyParticipantCongrats to all of the new alumni!
@accounture.com – Don't worry about that void. It'll go away soon. I find that I am just as busy now as I was before, but “good” busy rather than study busy. Now I have more time to devote to my fiance, reading, my board of director duties for my roller derby league, volunteering, cleaning around the house… My time has filled itself up. 🙂
I gotta say, I am still shocked that I am now a CPA and that I don't have to study anymore. I nearly gave up on the CPA exam a couple times… And I can't say how glad I am now that I didn't quit. It just goes to show that you can do ANYTHING that you put your mind to.
Again, congrats to all!!! And happy holidays. 🙂

AnonymousInactiveWhooHoo! So happy to finally be able to post here! I got my score at 6:30 am on Friday, and called in late to work so I could wait around for the UPS store to open at 8:30 so i could do my livescan and passport picture, and had everything together in the mail by 10am! I had already sent in my ethics score and certificate of experience from my public accounting firm, so hopefully everything gets processed real quick! Yes there is a void in my life…like i dont quite know what do to with myself…luckily we have a wedding to plan for so that should fill up some weekends 😉 and there is that half painted bathroom that I started over a year ago…I guess I can finish that to…

AnonymousInactiveYay! “Doing happy dance” Finally can post here. Last Friday, I found out I finally passed my last part after a long 18 month journey. It feels so good, but feel weird with all the time available now..lol
Now, onto Ethics in CA, 300 pages to read and take test. Anyone has any tips for Ethics? I got the pdf. version. Thanks!

KasiaSParticipant@agniecha – I LOVE the Carlton Dance! So very appropriate for our final pass!!! Congrats!!!
Does CA require you to take the ethics course from the AICPA? If so, you can find the answers verbatim in the text. Since you have the pdf, you can just use the search function to look for key words. In reality, you can probably pass without reading the text because so much of it is common sense!
