TXnewbieParticipantDONE!
It's been quite the journey – 7 years, 11(!) passed sections, 23 attempts, including 4 74's (all 4 on the VERY last section, and lost credit multiple times).
I began the journey 4Q 2010(!), and had it down to AUD 2Q 2012. Studied a solid 3 months, knew it inside and out – 74, somehow, despite every section except 1 scoring above a passing candidate, 1 comparable, and 0 below a passing candidate)…
Lost FAR/ gained AUD/ lost REG/ regained FAR…
And around and around I went, losing credit as I gobbled up credit for sections previously passed.I posted after my 3rd consecutive 74 on FAR (all Q2 – Q4 2016) that I was going to appeal; well, I DID pay for the appeal in Nashville, after being explicitly told I was eligible by a certain member in authority at a certain place I was appealing to. I was then told via misspelled reply that it was ‘over looked' and I cannot appeal, and my review eligibility window had lapsed (relying on the appeal).
Facing the music of losing AUD yet again, I composed a heartfelt commiseration post on the forum, regarding my anticipated appeal/'over looked' ineligibility, losing my father Q1 2016 and having to reschedule, Q2 74, Q3 74, Q4 mother in ICU for 3 weeks, with an emergency heart valve replacement/double bypass/ 2 week coma, my flying from Texas to Michigan on 3 separate occasions 2016 for my father's death, aunt death, mother at death's door…and yet again facing the brutal reality of 74 after 74 after 74 on the very last section (NOT exaggerating – I can supply score/date screenshots)…
It was at this time that a very helpful another71-er mentioned how they simply applied for an extension (I believe through WV?) and was able to get their ‘credit loss' date extended; well, after speaking directly with the director of my state jurisdiction, I found out that, while extensions are not permitted in the jurisdiction, there is a seldom-used medical extenuating circumstance consideration, for the candidate/spouse/parent…
I quickly drafted a letter, and attached a 20-some page .pdf from the hospital my mom was at (I'm medical POA), and Boom! I was extended for AUD 1 window. Since REG fell off late February, I had to apply, sit, and pass within 3-4 weeks (this was the end of January)…commence operation ‘study all day and all night' while working a 50 hour week!
I sat Feb 23, and saw the '81' pop up this morning. Praise the Lord.
Sorry for the novel; I rarely (if ever) post…I believe my last post, prior to the 4Q 2016 appeal post, was in 2010-2011. I've been literally chasing 1 point for 6 years.
23 exams, 11 sections passed, 7 years. I started and finished my double BBA and MSA in less time combined than these elusive 3 letters, haha…
4 74's on the last section.If I can relay anything –
Don't give up.
Don't ever, EVER give up.
Drinks on me!

KellyParticipantHey Jeff! I wanted to start out by saying thanks so much for this blog! It truly was a lifesaver over the past 9 months while I worked toward my goal of conquering the CPA exam. As a full-time student, I was often pulled in 100 directions while trying to study. Finding a support group through A71 really helped me to focus on my goal & pulled me up on my lowest days. It feels great to be done!

SomeSomeCPAParticipantWow, after scoring a 39 on my very first test I honestly wasn't sure if I could do it. Trust the process, trust yourself and most of all trust Ninja products. I purchased Becker outright and after failing my first 3 tests, I went Ninja and never looked back. Thank you Jeff
