I passed the CPA Exam nine months ago – now what?

So, I took the CPA exam in July, August (x2), and October of 2012, and passed all four sections first time around (woohoo!). I am in law school, so I didn’t take any action after receiving my final passing score. I have a question – what do I do now?

Here’s my situation: I took the exam under the AK jurisdiction as opposed to FL simply because at the time of application, I did not have an Auditing course under my belt. I took one last August right before the exam (and while studying for it) and now I have met all the requirements for the FL license. What do I do from here? Do I need to do anything with AK first, and then apply with FL for the transfer? Anyone with FL experience would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe in order to qualify as a CPA in FL you would have to have met the “sitting” requirement which means you would have to have taken the exam in florida and passed all parts.

My understanding in FL is you can sit under another jurisdiction, take and pass the exam, and then you can receive a “license by endorsement” whereby at the time of the endorsement you must meet the education requirements required at the time of your exam. I currently now meet all the FL sitting requirements, meet the work requirements, and have passed all four sections of the exam.

Call the state board. They can answer these questions best for you.

    Is Brent really right???

I am sitting for my Exams for NH because I dont meet the sitting requirements in FL as of now.

According to Brent´s post I would have to retake the whole CPA exam when I fulfil my education requirements (missing 12 credits).

That can´t be true, can it?????????

I've never heard of anyone having to retake exams.

However I cannot agree more with K917. Such questions are technical and state specific, you need to call the FL board and ask how to proceed. Please don't rely on feedback from a message board since rules can change year to year so even if someone did what youre looking to do, it doesn't mean the same path is still available today.

    Thanks mla1169!

I never heard of this too.

Also here is the link to FAQ:

    https://www.myfloridalicense.com/dbpr/cpa/faq-endorsement.html

It is question No 6 which should apply in this case.

It does not exactly say you also have to have met the requirements of Florida to sit for the exam (also if you have taken in another state)…but I think it is ok to sit in another state and as soon as you fulfil the requirements you can apply for license and to Transfer your CPA exam credits.

This line is what makes me nervous with Florida, under “licensure by endorsement”:

Meet education requirements based on year initially sat for the examination

I'm a Florida resident who tested in NY but I'm not interested in transferring because I'm not in public accounting so it doesnt really matter. That said, I'm not sure how to take the above requirement.
