FINALLY IT'S OVER!!!

I graduated in May 2009 and got a public accounting job right out of school. I started studying immediately and took FAR first thinking I would get the hardest out of the way… I FAILED big time! I totally under prepared and was not use to having to study at that level. I continued to study here and there for 4 years using Gleim. During those 4 years I passed AUD and BEC but then lost them due to the 18 month rule. ALSO, I didn’t make in time to meet the pathway 1 and 2 criteria which left me with the possibility of having to go back to school for more classes! UGH! I was as far as I could get with the firm without having my CPA. I had every reason to finish; 1) immediate promotion and set on partner track 2) I had been waiting to start a family until this was behind me 3) I WANT MY LIFE BACK!!!! Even with these key motivators I struggled to find the drive to study. My boss has been very supportive this entire time and finally sat me down during audit season and basically told me that he supports me in what ever I need to do to get the exam done. If I needed to take time off during audit season then he would make sure it worked out and that this was the priority. I also had changed my study material to RogerCPA and supplemented with Ninja Notes. Having the new material and the week off prior to my exam I passed all 4 in 4 months!!! I am still in shock that it is over and I am so thankful I never have to study for another one of these exams again! I do want to mention that I also prayed A LOT! Every step of the way and my whole drive to testing center to take FAR (my last one) I cried and asked God “PLEASE LET THIS BE THE LAST TIME!”. IT WAS!!! I wanted to share my story in hopes that it will motivate others that are struggling to get through it… It is absolutely the hardest thing I have ever had to do and it is a true test of discipline is. It is so true what everyone says, If you put the time in you will pass!!!!

I just took and passed the CA ethics exam so now I am waiting to hear back to see if my credits will meet the new criteria. Even if I have to take more classes I am just so thankful that the exam is done! Thank you for all those who posted previously who help to motivate me! Thank you too Jeff because without your motivational videos and ninja notes I couldn’t do it!!!!

    DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Sincerely,

    Shannon

Thanks for sharing. I am currently studying for FAR and want this to be the first and last! Like you I attempted in 2009 while I was an entry level auditor. Bad timing with so much family issues going on. I too want to get this behind me to pursue part-time work and have a family!

Enjoy that the exam experience is over!:) Please pray for me to be done with this EXAM this year! 🙂

4 months and working in public? This is not your typical case. Congrats!
