Expiration of CPA Exam Credits

    Hi All,

I’d like to post a question about the CPA exam credits. After we have passed all four sections, do the expiration dates of the credits still count? I am asking this because I just found out that I have passed my last section earlier this week, but on the NASBA CPA Central it still shows the expiration date for each section, and I just wanted to make sure that we are not required to do anything after we are done in order to make the expiration dates go away.

Also, does anyone know if we are required to do CPEs after we have passed the exam but prior to formally receiving our CPA license?

@LCS Once you pass all four sections of the CPA exam, your expiration dates on CPA Central become irrelevant, unless there's some wild loophole within your particular state. I am licensed in Georgia. I passed my final section in January and became licensed in October. I just logged into CPA central, and my expiration dates are still listed. So you're golden!

Regarding the CPE, I do not believe it is a requirement to take any between exams and being licensed, but I'm sure you still can if you want to start working towards your required CPE hours once you're licensed. For instance, if your state requires 40 hours per year, I'm sure you could start building on that and use it towards your total requirement once you're licensed. But don't take my word on that, because I'm not certain. Hopefully someone else can answer that with more confidence.

Congratulations on passing the exam! What a great feeling it is. Your hard work paid off.

    Hope this has been helpful!

Check your state..most do not require CPE for the first 3 years after licensing.
