Upper Level Education Requirements

I know there is no simple answer for this and I’ve searched this board trying to find anything that might answer my question with no luck. So I apologize if this is redundant.

So I am waiting for the results on my last test. If I pass, I’ll be done. I am starting to think about the application process. Specifically the upper level education requirements. From the people I talk to at work to everything I read online, it seems like there is no consensus on what the state board will consider as an “upper level” accounting course. Nor is there anyone at the State Board office who can help answer your questions. I’ve looked at my transcripts, and I know at minimum I have 24 hours of upper level accounting courses. In Arizona you are required to have 30. Looking at my unofficial transcripts though I have two courses I’m not sure about. I have a Business Law class with a course ID titled ACCT 3350 and I have a “Managerial Accounting” class. It’s not a principles of accounting (intro) class but it’s a 200 level course at the university I attended. I know it’s less likely that the Managerial accounting course would count but I am not sure about the other one.

Anyway, my questions/concerns is what do I do once its time to begin the application for my license? Do I take 1-2 upper level non-redundant accounting courses before I submit all my paperwork? Do I wait and let them decide if they will accept it as is or tell me otherwise? If I have to take additional courses, then I will. But I don’t want to waste money on courses that I may not need. At the same time I also want to be done with this whole process and if I do need to take additional courses, this would be the best time of the year to do so with my work schedule.

Any help/suggestions/advice from others who have gone through this process would be appreciated. Even if it isn’t specifically in Arizona.
