Anyone have a PMP certification or taking the PMP exam? I’m looking at getting that on the side (through work). Is it true you can either use real-life projects for the required hours OR class hours of exam prep? I also saw the exam was 4 hours and 200 MCQs. After the CPA, I’m pretty sure I can handle any sort of testing. Any advice would be appreciated.

What is the primary reason you all decided to pursue the PMP? I've heard people talk about it all the time and many project managers at the company I work at are going for their PMP.

Does it have some application in the Accounting field? Just curious, maybe it's something I should look more into if it would be a valuable addition to my credentials. I had never really thought about it before.

@mdrobbin: I pursued the PMP because I worked in IT for many years. Currently the job market for IT is horrible but project manager listing are plentiful, so I went for it. I went for both the CPA and PMP to open doors in the job market. Could both of them be combined? Possibly, there are projects in Accounting.
