Hey guys, I am using Yaeger 2011 for Far.

I passed Reg and Bec last year with it and then took a nice long 9 month break…. (life happens… you know)

Anyways, I am back at it (first week back)… are their any major changes to Far for 2012-2013? I was thinking about possibly getting some ninja notes as a supplement.

Wow nine months…..well will your parts you passed expire soon? As for changes, look for the update handouts if you have questions or call yaeger for updates. At least that's what I would do.

    It begins with a 75

My first exam expires in OCT 2013

I plan on taking FAR in at the beg of April and AUD at the end of May. So that gives me some time if I don't pass.

    HI dmtilton

Have you decided to go with 2011 Yaeger materials? I am debating whether I should go with 2012 as I think they might be outdated. Any concerns for 2011 being 2 years old?

    thanks

I am using the materials from 2011. I doubt they are significantly outdated. I used them in 2012 for 2 exams and felt like I was adequately prepared. I didn't look at updates then… I am sure there a few changes here and there.

For FAR, the main thing I was concerned about was that their might be more emphasis on IFRS.

I might buy the new Wiley book.

I was hoping somebody else could confirm the changes so I could just research those on my own time, instead of buying more stuff.

Here is what I found from Becker forum, but it is regarding 2012 materials. It looks like Audit is getting the most changes in 2013

Can I use the 2012 material to plan and study for my exam in 2013?

The Financial, Regulation, and Business exams are not changing for 2013 and you should be able to use the 2012 materials (assuming your 18 month license is still valid) to study for these exams in 2013. For the first half of 2013, the Audit exam will also be unchanged and you will be able to study with your 2012 materials. However, starting on July 1, 2013, the AICPA's Clarified SAS will be tested on the Audit exam. Becker will be releasing updated materials in 2013 that will cover the Clarified SAS. You will need these materials if you plan to take the Audit exam on or after July 1, 2013. Our advice to you is to plan to take the Audit exam before the Clarified SAS become testable.

REG and BEC are the 2 exams that change the least. Get an updated Test Bank (https://www.another71.com/wiley-cpa-software) at a minimum.

    Good info scaredtofail.

I'll won't plan on using my AUD portion for 2013.

Jeff, do you think the test bank would be any more useful than just buying the Wiley 2013 book for FAR? I really like to only focus on one section at a time and I never used the test bank for either of my previous exams.

It's up to you … the TB is a much more efficient use of your study time.

hmm, good point. I'll hammer through my Yaegar program and then in the final 2 weeks or so, I'll start using the test bank – which should point out my deficiencies.

I just took FAR with 2011 Yaeger material and don't feel that I encountered anything on the exam that wasn't covered.

I supplemented with the latest Wiley Testbank, Ninja Notes and also got the Roger CRAM. I think all of these are reasonably affordable options to supplement Yaeger.

The Testbank gives the most bang for your buck, although I relied heavily on Ninja notes while I was practicing MCP's on the testbank. I would not waste your money on a Wiley book.
