For those of you who passed all sections, did you ever think about giving up during your CPA journey.

How about fear of failure? how did you surpass it, especially when the circumstances get tough, and you may encounter personal or professional problems in your life while preparing for the CPA.

I am still struggling with FAR and I am going through some personal and professional issues.

    Thank you for your feedback.

More of us than not had thoughts of giving up. I certainly felt like giving up many times during the process. Life gets in the way, but we need to remember why we are doing this. Is it for success, money, making our kids or someone proud, etc.? Find your WHY. Remember why you are doing this to help you push through it. Passing all four parts of the CPA exam is not easy but if you stick with it you can do it. I don't know your personal and professional issues, but sometimes you need to prioritize and if the CPA exam needs to be put on hold then maybe that is what you need. Believe in yourself and remember this is a marathon, not a sprint.

most of us thought about giving up many times. Even after I got my license, I still had nightmares about failed the exam. lots of stress certainly.

What do you want us to say? It is what it is. Man up and face the challenge.

And do it fast, I heard they gonna make this stupid exam become impossible to pass, next year.

Everyone feels like this, I considered giving up every time I failed. But it is just like anything difficult you do in your life, you just persevere and eventually you figure it out. It took 3 tries to pass AUD, and 3 tries to pass FAR. But you get there eventually. My final passing scores for all of them were in the 80s…you just manage.

Thank you Dawood's for your reply. I am going through some rough times now and it has been very difficult for me to focus on my CPA exam.

I can not postpone it everytime I have a setback, I need to get it done.

I had a roommate, while he was taking his CPA exams he always complained that it was hard, but then when he passed all the sections, he told me and I quote: I will be honest with you it is not that hard.

So probably I will have the same feeling once I pass them all.

For me I took “FAR” one time and did not pass, but I think it is not hard, I think it is tricky.
In comparison with the MCQ and SIMS we have in “GLEIM” for example, the real exam looks easier.

I didn't have a choice in giving up.

It was either go for broke trying to pass the CPA exams in order to get an stable accounting job or continue to work in retail as a sales associate making a little over $8 an hour.

After passing the CPA exams I managed to land an accounting job. That helped me gained experience and move up in my accounting career.

Now I make a decent living with full health benefits and not have to worry about paying bills. And the great part, I get to work from home and get paid for it. During the pandemic, while a lot of people were either furloughed or laid off, I was still working and getting paid.

All that sacrificing, studying, and hard work paid off immensely. The great thing is that the more experience and skills you obtain, the more you are sought after by recruiters. I get contacted by recruiters much more than I have before out of the blue about open job opportunities.

If I were to give up and stick to retail years ago, I would've been miserable, broke, with a dead end and useless career. The farthest I would get in retail would be an assistant or store manager which a college student or high school senior could do.

So if you are planning to give up don't. My story alone will motivate to you pass.

Thank you Skynet, very motivating and inspiring story.

I think it is just matter of time, and being persistent before I reach my goal and pass all four sections.
