I literally have been asbolute hammering away progress tests on Becker after receiving a 60% on my first mock exam and then a 70% on the next mock exam. I cant seem to grasp Pensions, Bonds, or Leases, which I know are heavy on the exam. Starting to enter slight panic mode as I am only 6 days out from FAR. I am a newly minted grad with the hopes to travel around Europe this summer before I public accounting sucks my soul dry this fall. Any advice to overcome this anxiety and advice on how to get these topics to finally stick would greatly, GREATLY, be appreciated.

    BEC - 75
    FAR - 77

Same position as you except I take FAR on Monday. I stayed up until midnight last night drilling leases. I woke up at 5am this morning got a cup of coffee and immediately dove into multiple SIMs pertaining to leases. I think I have bonds down. Let's not talk about pensions right now.

    FAR-Mar 9,2020 (failed 71), retest May 21
BEC-Passed(I had a few stops and starts because I was studying during my busy season. Lost track of my study stats.)
    AUD-Passed(8 weeks,1877 MCQs, and 38 TBSs)-Wiley
    REG-Passed(10 weeks, 2000 MC)-Wiley

I've probably mentioned several times somewhere on this forum that the Becker mock exams are not the best representation of how you will actually perform on the exam date. I got a 80 on my first mock exam, which boosted my confidence, then I got a 65 on the second one a week prior to my exam date. It was such a confidence killer, but I still ended up getting a 87 on the actual exam. DO NOT let these mock exam scores discourage you.

As for pensions, leases, bonds or any other trouble topics, learn as much as you can, but you are not always guaranteed to get “always heavily tested topics” on your exam. The chances are slim.

Just keep studying like you have been, review the troubled topics by reading the book/lectures if you have time, and continue to hammer MCQs. If you haven't already, take a look at the AICPA sample tests to give you a good idea on how the SIMs are presented.

Don't panic 🙂 Becker FAR throws the entire kitchen sink at you. If you're having trouble with something, maybe start by rereading the book on that topic or rewatching them (depends which one works better for you). I'm surprised how much things can click on the second reading. Sometimes the thing they teach last makes it all work. Then try explaining it out loud or working a sample problem (even if you have to make up your own numbers).

When all else fails, remember partial credit is your friend and keep an eye on the clock during the exam.
