Let’s say I receive a letter from Jane Smith, asking me to support her missions trip to Bolivia. All checks are to be made out to her church, with “Jane Smith – Bolivia mission” in the memo. Is my donation tax deductible?

As long as the church or organization sends your written confirmation that is was a donation, I would say yes.

Great, thanks! Our church is preparing to send out a mission team and I am writing the support letter template. I wanted to be sure & specify whether the donors' gifts would be tax deductible. (I am not going on the trip, just helping out).
