Now the interesting thing here is that OP said “I feel that way and know I shouldn't.” If he/she was serious about that comment, then there's some hope for them.
If not, I suppose they've got problems. There are some chain-yankers on here, who post threads just to see the response – a psychological study, if you will.
And, there are probably a few liars here and there too. I'm not assuming the OP was in either of those categories though.

Most people who are very humble seem to go farther. When anyone tells me I did a good job with something at work, it always kinda makes me feel uncomfortable.

Yeah I thought that way too when I received my offers from the Big 4. I thought I was YUUUUUUUGE.

Then I started working for one. Now I realize how completely pointless I am. Though I will say, it really does open doors and people do seem to be generally impressed when I tell them (LOL) where I work. Haven't walked through any of those open doors yet though, too much kool aid in the room to want to leave yet.

Um I wonder IF OP REALLY does work for BIG 4 because if they do…man I am glad I am a chicken and passed the buck because it's one things to be set up for high expectations but I couldn't deal with that level of obnoxiousness without becoming incredibly…caustic.

The most obnoxious ppl are the other ones that tell ppl how great they are, I guess they need everyone to know or something but no one stays on top forever (AA) so I hope that's not all a person has because no one stays #1 forever.

Well I guess you can also buy a lot of stuff. I like stuff. but if I had to deal with the person that came with the stuff, let's say I like other things more…Reminds me of Citizen Kane…lol.

OP is just an idiot chain yanker. The things people will do to get a reaction out of other people…it's how they live their lives and it's their form of entertainment. I've worked with people like this, some of whom were 50+ years old. It's sad. They'll make a comment and watch everyone's reaction and then say “Oh my god, I was just kidding! But you guys were serious!! Haha, I love it, you stupid losers!” If only there were no laws against homicide….haha

[CPA so close, so far away]

I was hired at a big 4 firm after my internship at that same firm. I do not feel any better than any other person in the accounting field. To the person who originally posted this, that attitude will most likely be reflected in your work/interaction with clients and hurt your career. Just because you achieved a position at a reputable firm does not in any way make you better than anyone else.

Congrats on getting into a Big 4, but if you don't have a CPA, you won't get very far.

I have never worked a Big 4 and am still trying to get in. I have 3 years of experience now, so it's starting to hit the point it is not worth it for me.

Also, after having a fiance that works Big 4, a lot of entry level associates who have “The Best Resume” and “The Best GPA” don't perform well. So let's see if you have the critical thinking skills to survive.
