I think FAR is the most boring possible CPA section, and studying Statement of Cash Flows makes me want to cry. Just thought I I would share that with a hopefully sympathetic audiance.

    FAR: 55, 52, 66
    REG: 84*
    AUD: 54, 70, 73, 72, 79!!!
    BEC: 75*

    *expired

I think if the CPA exam was just FAR it would be bad enough…

    AUD - Try 2 on 8/27
    FAR - Try 3 on 10/2

I started studying for FAR a few years ago. I got through two weeks of studying and decided I didn't want to be a CPA anymore. If I find out tomorrow that I passed BEC I'll be starting studying for FAR on Tuesday. I'm already dreading it.

I actually didn't find FAR boring- I hated the section just because it's a monster but I actually enjoyed learning some of the things that I hear the accounting dept talk about but can't fully relate to just because I've only ever been an auditor. the only section I found purely and utterly boring was auditing, ironically.

Well, if you don't hate FAR, then you aren't studying enough! So you must be getting well-prepared 🙂

I hated FAR, and then I got to REG.

I miss FAR. come back to me, FAR. I miss you. I'm sorry that I spoke ill of you, FAR. you didn't deserve it.

    @dragnets

why did you like FAR over REG? FAR has like double the amount of material

this might sound weird, but I felt like FAR had double the material to LEARN, but only half the material to REMEMBER. with FAR, for the most part, I was never really memorizing anything in particular. I was getting concepts down, and it was easy for me to recall concepts and apply them to problems in the future. reading a FAR MCQ was generally enough to trigger my brain into performing the problem.

REG is nothing like that. every section with REG is memorizing. you HAVE to remember each and every detail to get the MCQs down. you can't just get the big picture down because there's not really a big picture, the MCQs aren't tailored to being able to apply concepts, they're tailored to remembering the minutia of the law. and I am awful at memorizing.

that's how I see it anyways. I'm only about 30% through REG, but I truly think it is harder than FAR.

If you hate FAR, wait until you get to audit. You'll probably fall asleep every chapter. FAR isn't too bad. For me FAR was a lot of stuff I already learned in school.

In order from most to least boring, I would say AUD, BEC, FAR, REG.
