    Hi it's Hymie here,
I failed FAR twice in the low 70s (so close!!) and am not taking it now till i'm confident I'm ready.
Nothing keeps me up but the thought of failing again.
A good tip. don't just memorize ratios- take a few minutes to really understand them!If you really understand them then you won't need to memorize anything.

When are you taking the exam? September 2018
What exam topics keep you awake at night? Trying to understand how to calculate accrual to cash. And what is funny is I have a company that I do the accounting for and it is cash based so at the end of the month I move any AR or AP that is not cleared, because it is an accrual. But the way it is done on my review I have no clue what is going on. 🙁
One study or career tip others might find helpful: Turn off all social media. I've taken FAR twice. The exam is passable, it's just knowing your stuff. Don't let the amount of information overwhelm you.

    Hi Jeff,

When am I taking the exam?
I don’t have an exact date that I will be taking the exam. I’ve scheduled my test first in the past, then had to cram to study since my test date approached faster than I thought. So this time around I want to get in a good month of studying before I actually schedule my exam.

Which exam topic keeps me up at night?
    FAR- All topics here!😩

Study or career tip to help others?
Anything worth having, is worth working for!!!

    Hello!

When are you taking your exam? — FAR on beginning of July 2018!

What exam topic keeps you awake at night? — Lots of topics but especially acquisition method, consolidated F/S, derivatives..

One study or career tip others might find helpful. — If you don't understand something, always come here! 99.9% of the times, the questions you have are already answered or discussed by other candidates on here in the past. Another thing I do and recommend is just take notes notes notes! MCQs I get wrong are always the same and I sometimes get them still wrong after 5-6 attempts. It's because I think I'll be fine next time because I've read the explanations, just “read” without fully understanding them. I use a small memo book so I can easily carry them around with me and read them whenever I have time.

When are you taking your exam: I plan to take FAR at the end of August / early September based on my REG score next week.

What exam topic keeps you awake at night: FAR but BEC is close behind. I find the material a lot more dry and disengaging compared to the others. Cost Accounting is my kryptonite :/

One study or career tip others might find helpful: a study tip that I hope to be useful is to always plan for the unexpected. Add in buffers of time to ensure you have enough time to review and some time for the curveballs life throws our way.

Also weight the cost benefit of paying for two exams at once. I've been swindled into doing so far more than I'd like to admit and find myself with less time to study for the 2nd exam or no longer have the time to re-test in the next quarter!

    Best of luck ninjas.

When are you taking your exam? August 25, 2018
What exam topic keeps you awake at night? All of the little nuances between IFRS and U.S. GAAP
One study or career tip others might find helpful. The only way you do not pass these exams is when you give up. Keep grinding through studying for the light at the end of the tunnel but always evaluate your personal life and mental health as you go.
