Hi I am Simran. I started preparing for the Cpa using Becker way back in 2008 , passed BEC and failed in Far and took a break because of kids and family.

Long break so now I am a stay home mom of 3 with a MBA finance background from India way back in 2004.

Want to start with my CPA all fresh now beginning with my favorite and overwhelming FAR this November most likely.

Still luking for the CPA review that best works for me .

Any suggestions with regard to the review course and study plan are most welcome.

    Thanks

I'm taking my FAR exam for the 4th time on July 30th in Fresno, California. I'm hoping this is the final time. I have passed BEC (waiting until the 26th to find out about REG). The one thing that everyone tells me is to just keep after it and eventually it will all come together. But FAR is my worst subject. I have gotten a 35, 45 and 49 on it in the past. Hopefully 4th times the charm!

One tip for work: Be friendly to everyone and upbeat, no matter what else is going on. No one enjoys working with someone who has a bad attitude. I have realized that a great personality and confidence will get you farther.

FAR in general keeps me up at night. Now that the clock has started after passing BEC, this is my worst subject. I'm hoping that doing the DOJO will be the key to success.

    Thanks!

I plan on taking FAR exam sometime this year, 2018.

FAR is definitely the one that keeps me up at night. Figured I'd try to attempt the most difficult one first.

Tip: Start studying during or right after graduating college when information is somewhat fresh in your mind.

When are you taking your exam? FAR August 2018
What exam topic keeps you awake at night? Consolidations
One study or career tip others might find helpful. Hire a tutor for those tricky sections. (Consolidations, Deferred Taxes, Statement of Cash Flows) Preferably somebody who has actually taken and passed the CPA exam!

Hi I am Simran… I started CPA Studies way back in 2008 with Becker passed the BEC and got a 72 in FAR and left in the middle because of kids and family.

Now a stay home mom of 3 want to start cpa all again . Planning to start with FAR by the end of this year.

Still little not sure cpa review to use… definitely want to try Ninja review .Nail the concepts and practice Mcqs and review the notes again and again .

First post, but I've used this website to help understand questions that didn't make sense to me while studying and it's been very helpful.

I took REG on 6/6 and am SO anxious because I needed about 5 more minutes to finish. I'm taking FAR at the end of August. What keeps me up at night is that I'm worried with there being so much subject matter in FAR that I'll run out of time again.

The best study tip I have is to shut down all distractions-turn off all notifications, close all tabs, tell your friends and family that you're studying and that you'll reach out to them when you can. It really takes a lot to focus but that's what we have to do if we really want to pass the exams. 🙂

I am hoping to take the test in Aug. I barely started reviewing for it. I do have Becker, and I am thinking about getting ninja to supplement it (or Becker to supplement it) I cannot stand the lecture in Becker so I am already panicking. I started to just go ahead and work the MCQs and I seem to be getting somewhere.

I’m taking the exam in September… last day of the scheduling window I think. Less time to sit around anxiously waiting for score releases!

Government and fund accounting keep me up at night. I don’t think school touched on these at all and I work in the manufacturing industry so that’ll all be new to me.

My study tip is simple repetition. Multiple choice questions, reading notes, listening to lectures… repeat repeat repeat to the point of overkill. For me that’s the only way I feel comfortable I will remember things on test day, which is always more stressful and feels different than any studying or practice test can simulate.

    Good luck to everyone!

I am taking FAR on August 25th. I have many topic concerns as I work in higher education and do not work directly on a lot of the topics and I am structured to Non-profit and governmental which is a small piece of the test. So I am working a lot on the fasb items. The best advice I have received and continue to use is to network and find mentors to keep you motivated on why you are in this field and what you can accomplish if you work hard and be consistent in all you do professionally

    1. Taking FAR on October 10th.
    2. Topics which keep me awake- Journal entries, Property, plan/equipment, payables, accrued liabilities, Compensation, State & Local government concepts, Proprietary funds, Research Questions & SIMS
    3. Study/Career Tips- Do what benefits you, explore, invest time, do not copy others, take guidance, ensure extreme use of optimum resources available and be patient towards any of your goals.
