When are you taking your exam?
I'm taking FAR at the end of August

What exam topic keeps you awake at night?
IFRS… I have ZERO exposure to it and I learn by doing, not by stupid Mnemonics (anyone else sick of Becker's code words??)

One study or career tip others might find helpful.
You learn by doing. A lot of the questions on the CPA exam have to do with things you haven't seen since college. Focus on knowledge, not just test “tricks”. Go back to your books and make connections to real-world examples.

    Hello,

My name is Katie, I graduated college in May 2016 with a dual major in accounting and finance. I started the CPA journey that summer, using Becker (provided by my employer). Unfortunately, due to some personal health issues and complete lack of motivation, the exam I did pass (BEC) recently expired, and so did my Becker study materials. I found myself back at square one and in significant debt to my employer if I don't get these exams passed ASAP!

I'm finally mustering up the motivation to get back on the horse, and hope to use NINJA as my only study material this next go around. (Partially using NINJA due to that GREAT monthly payment option, but also because I have seen a lot of people on this forum comment about how they struggled with Becker and found the NINJA approach much more effective!)

Here is to hoping for success this go around!

When are you taking your exam? Hoping to take FAR the first week in September.
What exam topic keeps you awake at night? Governmental Accounting
One study or career tip others might find helpful. Don't give up! It will all be worth it in the end! Also, remind yourself that this is one of the most difficult professional exams, and it is okay to fail and try more than once! All that matters in the end is that you did it, not when/how. Stay confident!

    Hi,

Also in for the FAR Monthly free membership!!

I plan on using Roger and NINJA for the FAR exam. I took it in April 2018 along with AUD this month. I am awaiting scores on both but I'm convinced that I failed FAR. If I fail both, I plan on taking FAR within the first two weeks of July and AUD in the last day of July. If I only failed FAR, then I plan on taking it at the end of July. Why July? Because I passed my first part, BEC, in January 2017.

So many topics at FAR keep me awake at night. They are derivatives, pensions, bonds, statement of cash flows, and government accounting.

One study or career tip others might find helpful: Know how you learn best. What kind of learner are you? Visual? Auditory? Tactile (experiential)?

I am taking my exam in July 2018.

I would say bonds keep me up at night but I'm working through it! Oh and Government Accounting….

I have listened to the FAR audio notes a few times, and that's helped me to really remember some of those things that I would have otherwise not worried about.

I am scheduled to take FAR July 7th . This will be my first attempt at FAR so I am really nervous. I hope that I can remember everything. What keeps me up at night is bonds, discounts and premiums! Yikes! It’s scary. Not to mention trying to memorize all the formulas you have to know for FAR. What I have been doing to help me keep things fresh in my mind is take notes for each problem that I get wrong, explain why I got it wrong and then go back and record myself reading my notes on my cell phone. I listen to my recordings on the train on the way to work or in the car driving home over and over again. I plan to do this until test day!
