@norseman88 – thanks that helps a bit… my biggest problem I am coming to realize is the way these questions are worded- I have almost convinced myself that it will be okay if I fail because the number of MCQ's will be dropping to 70 with the new exam.

oh and i have to disagree- perhaps I “sized well” but I find mine to be QUITE comfy- in fact I was a little scared the first time I realized just how comfortable they were- ha ha ha ha

LOl @mtaylo– I agree its disgusting but AICPA really leaves me no choice- the way my test center is set up the 15 to 25 mins it can take to to leave the test room, go find the key- or wait for the key if someone is already taking a break, go, come back, wait to be checked back in- and restart taking the test could mean the difference between finishing the exam and passing or not… It is quite honestly BEYOND ridiculous that the AICPA does not allow a 15 min break at some point during the exam if for nothing else to stretch your legs and get a sip of water- but to actually penalize you for having to go to the bathroom just makes this exam that much more horrible. I know of no other exam where breaks are not allowed.

So yes while it is yuck- I will stick to giving myself as much time as possible…

@aatoural – Here are the % Completion JEs from my Wiley text. They are “summary journals” so the first one could have many different credit accounts – the rest (I think) are pretty much standard.

    To record cost of construction:
    DR Costruction in Process
……CR Various accounts (materials, payables, labor, etc.

    To record progress billings:
    DR Accounts Receivable
……CR Billings on Construction in Progress

    To record collection
    DR Cash
    ……CR Accounts Receivable

They mention using some nominal accounts to close out the year and incorporate profit, saying “…debits gross profit … to Construction in Process. Similarly it credits Revenue from Long Term Contracts. It then debits the difference between the amounts recognized each year for revenue and gross profit to a nominal account, Construction Expenses (similar to Cost of Goods Sold in a manufacturing company). It reports that amount in the income statement as the actual cost of construction incurred that period.

To recognize revenue and gross profit:
DR Construction in Process (gross profit)
    DR Construction Expenses
    ……CR Revenue from Long-Term Contracts

To record completion of the Contract:
DR Billings on Construction in Progress
    ……CR Construction in Progress

Dang, I average like 1 minute for my break and I always take it before sims/wc. The sweet lady this past saturday made the extra effort to pause her registration process and let me sign out “this young man, is on a timed test so he needs to sign out” 😂 . My home test center looks out though, can't say the same about others.

@mckan514w – Maybe you should look for another test center (unless you finish this round, hopefully!). Both of the centers I've used have nearby, easily accessible (not locked) rest rooms – I checked out the location and distance beforehand. I haven't actually needed to “go” during a test, but it wouldn't have cost me more than five minutes.

I usually take at least one break to stretch between testlets, depending on how I feel. I usually can't swallow breakfast on test day and I'm starving partway through, so I keep cheese and a few nuts in my locker with a thermos of tea. The process is a little ridiculous because it takes longer to check out and check back in than it does to grab my snack and swallow it (all done in full view of the proctors).

mine is awful- I had to take a break last FAR- horrible cough- and of course they wouldn't let me bring my evil FAR answer encoded cough drops into the room with me (even unwrapped-)- and it took me 18 mins exactly to check out- go to my locker and get a cough drop- and check back in– I ended up running out of time on the exam- given my score it probably didn't make that much of a difference to leave an entire SIM blank- but it actually could have potentially pushed me into the 70-75 range- I will never know….but nope- no more breaks for me!

@ginic – thank you I wonder how come Becker does not have a book example with the entries, but they have a SIM that is all about the entries. I also ended up with youtube video from Education Unlocked, they seem to be pretty good at explaining concepts.

I've been sorta stressing over taking a break. Do I take a break so I don't get antsy, or do I not because I don't want to lose any time???

@mckan514w – I figure this is a REVIEW course, we're supposed to have learned this stuff already and have our previous notes and resources.

I just discovered I had calculation of weighted average expenditures for interest capitalization in my head all wrong. Trying to replace at the last minute. Becker said it would normally be given on the exam (it's a time consuming calculation) then gave a sim that uses it!

@GiniC you are the last person on this forum who should even be worrying right now-aside from the fact that you know this stuff like the back of your hand your other scores indicate that you take this test well…
