Thanks Hunter32. When you said IFRS, do you recommend a particular area like impairment of goodwill, or treasury stock or contigencies – provisions differences we need to focus?

Tested yesterday – this exam was much different for me than my first one.

A lot more of every topic. Definitely study governmental, bonds, leases and i cant stress IFRS. Wouldnt it be crazy if you saw an IFRS sim (or 3, no joke, 3!!!)?? Study the IFRS as much as possible!!!

Imagine??!! I was in SHOCK!! 3!!!! and then one simulation that I'm sure was in gibberish. The research was even hard but i spent like 20 mins on it because i KNEW i needed to get it right. I'm hoping i got really hard sims bc i did well on the MCQ (which i feel like i did really well on, luckily, but that also means nothing), but who knows!

You have described that you got 3 out of 7 sims with IFRS. What would be your advise to go through IFRS, chapter by chapter in order to see how that corresponds to GAAP or to study IFRS as an entire cake. What would be a rational way for IFRS, your opinion. I heard NINJA NOTES is a great source for IFRS. Was it good enough for you ? Thanks

The ninja notes are very, very helpful! They really help with the differences between GAAP and IFRS!! I'm positive any points I got from those sims were from remembering the ninja notes. Also, do you have Becker? I would go through and read those grey boxes which describe the differences as well. It's impossible to know it all, but do your best! Also, remember what one exam is doesnt mean the next exam will be the same!!

Nat if you are using becker check the last chapter and there is a really good sheet with all the differences. It's chapter 10 last topic I believe. Another note; I just took FAR on January 31 and it hardly had any IFRS, could just be my luck though. A logical way to look at the differences is that IFRS is a more logical and actual way things happen.

Thanks to all for posting your experiences! I'm very nervous about this test since it's the only one I haven't sat for yet. I've got a ordered list going now for my final review and focus: IFRS (specifically the differences from GAAP), Bonds & Leases, Govt, and NFP. Luckily I work in NFP and it's very similar to Govt, so that makes me feel a little better.

I sincerely wish you all the best of luck during the waiting period. I hope you all passed with flying colors!

This week's focus is GAAP and Presentation (based on the NINJA Book, Part 1). Gonna own it!

Started in 2013 using Kaplan and failed REG, REG, BEC, AUD. Switched to NINJA suite in Sept 2014 and passed AUD...then BEC...then FAR!
REG took 2 tries but I finally got it in too!
I'm a hard convert - Using NINJA method with NINJA video/book/notes/MCQ

Experience: 3 months left! I hit 4 years on May 30 🙂

I just wanted to share my experience with FAR. After three attempts I finally passed! I used Becker on my first two attempts and added the Ninja MC on the last attempt and passed!!!!!! This is the best feeling ever!
