I was at a conference all day and I kept going over random stuff in my head.

The people up on the stage were yakking about insider trading and failure to supervise enforcement actions by the SEC and how to better use technology in an effective compliance program, and I was thinking GASB 34 and CAFR, direct vs. indirect SOCF, and journal entries, LOL.

@DJN, yup, I meant Projected Benefit Obligation. Obviously, I'm having more trouble than I thought, haha.

@NYCaccountant, thanks for clearing that up! So does that mean that ABO is totally irrelevant to pretty much every problem? Seems like they've been throwing it in there just to trip me up. Or does it have some other use/purpose in financial accounting?

@ DJN I remember the criteria being – A major fund should be 10% of the total enterprise fund and/or(not sure here lol) 5% percent of governmental + Business (enterprise) to be considered a major fund. I'll check tomorrow to know for sure.

@ Finn You should have a minimum liability if the fair value of your plan assets is less than the ABO. I'm going based off of memory, but the ABO should always be less than the PBO.
