@DC, I'm in the DMV, living in PG Co., MD, 7 mins. from the MD/VA state line. Are you in my class with me? I could use a study partner.

@Random, I will come back around 1:00 p.m. (EDT) to post an example because I'm at work right now. Thank you for the mneumonics, however! I used to be really good at this stuff in school. If you don't use it, you lose it, I guess. :-/

I'm in VA, but not in your class. I had Ingram as a professor when I was at GMU. I actually just began studying for FAR last night (taking it just before Thanksgiving) so right now I can't provide much help but once I get more into it, if you'd be interested in meeting up, perhaps in DC, to study on some weekends, I would be open to that.

That's fine. So far, I enjoy his teaching methods, but it could be because I learn better in a classroom setting anyway. I'll be taking my exam around mid to late-Nov., so meeting up with you in DC is fine. Feel free to hit me up: kksaun02@comcast.net.

How are you guys dealing with memorizing disclosures? I feel like there's so many that it's hard to get a firm handle on all of them.

And for people who have taken FAR before, would you say the simulations in the Wiley Test Bank resemble those on actual exam day? I've heard people say that the Becker sims were completely different in format and all that? I want to know if the Test Bank will simulate the exact exam day experience for me or not.

My exam is on Oct 3rd and I'm halfway through the MCQ for Chapter 6. I actually haven't gone through Chapter 9/Chapter 10 lectures yet or done the MCQ for chapters 7-10. I have roughly about 3 weeks to finish studying.

Would someone please advise me on what my study plan should be? Feeling a bit overwhelmed at the moment.

    BEC (July 2013)
    FAR (OCT 2013)
    REG (NOV 2013)
    AUD (JAN 2014)

The CPA Exam is an opponent that not even the Fellowship of the Ring would want to come across.

    I have a long...long...journey ahead of me.

    Question on pensions:

Parker Co. amended its pension plan on January 2 of the current year. It also granted $600,000 of unrecognized prior service costs to its employees. The employees are all active and expect to provide 2,000 service years in the future, with 350 service years this year. What is Parker's unrecognized prior service cost amortization for the year under U.S. GAAP?

    The answer is $105,000.

However, I chose $0 because I thought that prior service cost isn't amortized until the FOLLOWING year and no amortization is taken in the first year. Or am I not reading this right?
