AnonymousInactiveWell I took FAR today and it wasn't pretty. I used Becker to study and the simulations I had on the exam were nowhere similar to Becker. I honestly have no idea where they came up with those sims. Not to mention that I could have used 2 screens for all sims rather than use the stupor split screen option. Will they ever modernize those damn tests? There is no need to waste seconds between questions and split the screen so u can do the dang simulations! 🙂
If by a miracle I pass, it will feel great, otherwise I will need to figure out what else I should use in addition to Becker.

TncincyParticipant@DC,
When are you taking FAR again? or are you simply studying right now.
I have stopped and started so many times (situation after situation) but I am getting down to business situation or not and get this behind me. It's time for tax season and I really want to be test ready the beginning of Jan. I think FAR is the hardest and if I can get this one I think the other parts will not be so stressful.
It begins with a 75

AnonymousInactivei'm taking it on the 25th, the monday before thanksgiving. if i were you, i would definitely try to squeeze it in before the end of the Nov window and that way if you don't pass you can take it once more before busy season starts up. it'll be really tough to study and stay focused during busy season but if you can at least get one under your belt (especially one as tough as FAR), it will really give you the motivation to study hard after those long days.

I have a separate note(cute small one!) just for JE.
I write the transaction explanation and then JE on the bottom.
Try to memorize them at first and as you get more familiar with them, it gets easier to understand them.
Dont stress yourself when u dont understand something, because second, third time u see, it all comes together!
And as i do mcq, memorized JE helps me so much and it's a plus++ if u fully understand them.
Big k i'm taking mine at 4th of dec!
How far r u?
Lol
I've done 4 out of 8 chapters so far..(throughly)
And i know that's wayyy too slow
But i'm committed to study hard for the next 19days!!!

AnonymousInactivehey all,
Is anyone able to explain cash and cash equivalents? I am confused regarding when to count something as cash and when not to count something as cash. I know there is a rule about cash as being only cash or securities with “original maturity of 90 days of less.” But how do you classify a CD with an original maturity of 6 months, that is actually scheduled to mature in one month?
any help is appreciated.

Your original maturity date to the investor has to be within 3months of the purchase date!
So original maturity of 6 months still not cash or cash equivalents.
Sometime they trick u by saying
Three year treasury notes, purchased 6/15/12, mature 8/31/12 (reporting b/s of the yr ending 6/30/12)
Even thogh it says 3yr note, u Purchased it and mature it within 3 mos. so it does count as cash and cash equivalents
On the other hand u have another note mature within a month but u purchased it 3yrs ago. That doesnt count towards cash equivalent.
Do not look at the original issuance date, look at the purchased date.
I hope i'm right 🙂
