AnonymousInactiveI'm completely convinced that there should be separate accounting exams. One for industry, one for public accounting, and one for governmental. I agree! Learning a bunch of crap I know I will never use is a waste of time.

AnonymousInactive@oilgas–I was wondering where you were yesterday. Don't tell me you had something going on besides studying and joining in my freak out moment. How dare you!! 😉

oilgaslbMemberhaha! I just reread through everything that I missed – I missed a lot! I didn't study at all yesterday so now it's time to get back at it, or I'll forget EVERYTHING I ever read haha. Are you feeling better today?

AnonymousInactiveI am better today. I swear this test makes me feel mentally unstable. I should probably think things through before I post because I posted the minute it hit me that the test was only 3.5 WEEKS away as opposed to the 1 MONTH I had last week. Hahaha 🙂 I went over my plan in my head on the way home yesterday. Got home and knocked out two sections and 100+ MCQ that I hadn't seen before. I put in 4.5 hours after the girls went to bed at 8:30. I slept through all of my alarms and was late for work, but my boss is out so I don't feel that bad about it. I scored in the 60s on those two sections, but since it was a first pass through I wasn't too upset. When I realized that I still have a minimum of 60 hours to study before the test I thought to myself, “people pass this studying TOTAL only 120 hours and I've already put in more than that so I should be able to go over my week areas and drill them into my head in the time I have left.” I am still worried, but not freaking out. Can't promise I won't freak out tomorrow though. You know that's how this works…one day confident, next day not so much. Stupid FAR!

AnonymousInactiveI am brief when I write my notes and don't write notes specific to the individual questions. I write notes that are conceptual so that they can be applied to many different questions. I only covered two sections so the concepts were repeated several times in different ways throughout my quiz set, but I only wrote the concept itself down once. Also, I don't take notes on things I know the first time around. I only take notes on the ones I get wrong. Plus, I am a speedy test taker. I can barely remember not being the first one done on a test in college. I have to constantly remind myself to slow down on the CPA exams because while I did very well in college, the teachers weren't out to get me like the AICPA is. haha

NYCaccountantParticipant@TeeTee You should get the Ninja notes. They're pretty good actually. I suck at note taking and they've helped me a lot.

How many letters do you needParticipantMom-Just hang in there. Things are never as bad as you think when you have a bad day, and probably not as good as you think when you have a good day. It's always somewhere in between…
Finally able to schedule my exams and it was slim pickins. I've got April 14th for FAR and May 24th for BEC. No Sats in April so I just had to look for the next best thing (Mondays). Freaked out a little myself when they had a nice cozy April 28th…but not going to squeeze my BEC like that. It's set and just under four weeks to go….lets go go go go!

AnonymousInactiveI finally figured out why I was still not receiving my NTS. Today was my third time to call the State Board Office for follow up for my FAR NTS. Prior to score release, I sent in my application for REG and paid $30.00, then found out later I didn't pass FAR. So I sent another reapplication for FAR the same day. You know when you have different personal email addresses using your first and last name from different yahoo.com, twc.com, gmail.com, sometimes with dot in between your first and last name. I mixed up my yahoo email without dot on my FAR so when NASBA sent my NTS, I didn't get it in my email. My mistake!
Anyway, I am glad I got my NTS today and so I've already looked for appointments. The dates for Wave 1 are still not that full at the closest 2 testing centers (<20 miles away).
CPAMommy, Tee, and Oilgas are taking FAR before 4/20. I am not sure when to sit when in fact I want my score on Wave 1 release too. However, I don't want 5/5 score release date because it falls on Manic Monday (Non-NASBA). Most people will get their scores as early as 5/2.
My REG class starts on 5/5 as well.
I don't know how to think right and what to decide about. My brain is drained and is not functioning right. So I am not accomplishing anything productive today.

AnonymousInactive@Amor D–If you sit before 04/20 you will get your score in the first wave. Just shoot for the latest date before that to optimize your study time and be in the first wave. Once you have the date set your study habits will change and you will be more productive.
