I’ve had a few requests for April/May Study Groups…March will be here before you know it.

In order to take an early April exam, you should begin studying…now. 🙂

CPAMommy- Hey another one! I was beginning to think everybody was using Becker. So I assume you are pushing back to April? What topics do you think you need more focus on?

Oh and I guess feeling like you will never remember everything is a common thing with FAR. I am shooting for comprehension on as much as possible and will settle for memorization on the rest. Hoping that will be good enough for a 75!

I won't lie, reference to Becker chapters drives me nuts because I have no idea what they are talking about. I did have to push back to April. My weak topics are of course the ones with the most material…government, bonds, leases, and NFP. I had to take a week off and now I feel like I need to start all over. I do like the Wiley book. The SIMS are much harder in the book than they are on the test bank. Hopefully those will prepare me well. I'm glad to see another nonBecker user on here!

Yes I'm budgeting extra time for government and non profit because that material will be brand new to me. I definitely have my strengths also based on my background (bonds, time value, inventory) but I take no topic lightly on this beast of an exam! I'll be around to bounce thoughts/questions off of if needed….I know I'll have my fair share!

Another cheapo FAR studier here– no Becker, no Roger. Module 9 of Wiley is really long compared to the others, so I budgeted a week to go over it alone. Most of the other modules share a week with one or two other modules in my time/study budget.

Haven't officially started studying yet, since I'm still in class, and work full-time, and FAR isn't until May. But I'm avoiding doing my homework by planning out my studying for FAR, and I can't wait for my class to end so I can officially start studying. Is that weird? (You don't really need to answer that.)

I think with any study program for FAR, it's too much for any one person to remember it all. We just have to do the best we can.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

Agreed. My plan is to really focus on the 4 areas I mentioned above and to go through all the MCQs in the book and the test bank at least twice. I've already done a lot, but I need a refresher since I took some time off. There is no way to get it all down no matter how long you study just because it is way too much varied information.

For those of you using the Wiley book: I got discouraged trying to get through module 9 first because it is so long so I went through and wrote out how long the modules are so I could tackle some of the smaller ones and get my confidence up before tackling the big guys. I don't know if this will interest you or not, but I thought I would share in case you hadn't completely worked out your study plan yet. This is how long they are (# of pages of material & # of pages of question/solutions) I think I'm going to try to knock out 22 (NFP), 17 (Statement of Cash Flows), and 19 (Derivative Instruments and hedging Activities) this week answering the MCQ/SIMS in the book and saving the test bank for my review.

    Module 9–61–96

    Module 10–15–30

    Module 11–23–31

    Module 12–20–37

    Module 13–59–72

    Module 14–18–20

    Module 15–23–34

    Module 16–15–28

    Module 17–11–20

    Module 18–26–27

    Module 19–16–19

    Module 20–25–39

    Module 21–47–26

    Module 22–14–17

Re-started my studies for FAR. I began last August preparing for a Q4 exam date but then my application was denied. NC didn't accept my MBA accounting courses or all of my principles credits so I had to get 6 more credits. Taking 2 classes now, Tuesday and Thursday night and trying to sit for FAR April 25th. Plan to sit for AUD end of May.

Using CPAExcel, Wiley books, and Wiley Test Bank. The material seems a lot easier this time around.

    FAR: 4/19/2014 - 85!
    AUD: 5/27/2014 - 90!
    REG: 7/18/2014 - 81!
    BEC: 8/13/2014 - 84!

    4 up, 4 down, in 4 months.

    Licensed 9/22 in NC.

@nclynch–That's great! Maybe you can help answer our questions when we have them. I am finding that the more I learn the more confused I get with all the different topics.

@cpamommyof3 and @howmanylettersdoyouneed I am also using Wiley Book, Test Bank, and Ninja materials to prepare. Maybe we should try and start our own thread for our Wiley specific questions.

@cpamommyof3 looks like you have planned your work with the study roadmap you posted. Have you decided when you are going to take your exam?

I'm game for that. It will help not to have to type out questions we don't understand. We can just say go to page xx, #4. I'll start the thread and title it Wiley Q2 FAR Study Group.

By posting the thread there would anyone be able to see it without going into that thread? If you posted in FAR Review, wouldnt it be able to be seen with searching for it? I just asking because I don't necessarily frequent that thread.

Any ideas on how to post questions from the WTB? You can cut/paste the solution easy enough, but I found that I am having to type out the question to post it in the forum.
