oilgaslbMemberOuch…this was difficult. I found out through a friend outside of the company I work for, that my company placed an ad to replace a coworker/good friend. I had the debate of whether to give him a heads up or not…and I told him. He saw it coming, and isn't shocked, but it still makes me feel bad. He has a baby on the way and everyone knows it's easier to find a job when you have a job so my guilt of not telling him would outweigh my bad feelings of being the messenger. Talk about being between a rock and hard place. At least he knows he has to up has searches….ugh.

TncincyParticipantBeen studying off and on during work…….that old overwhelming feeling is trying to sabotage my hard work. I'll take a break from the note cards and hammer out a few questions. Hope everyone is having good study sessions.

NJPRUMember@Oilgas – I hear yah on that one. I think you did the right thing. It's always difficult when deciding if to tell them or not or even how to tell them when you decide whether or not to do so. In my opinion and with the information you provided, it appears that the information became public knowledge and he was going to find out sooner or later – it might as well have been you, a good friend, who told him. Best of luck to him!
@Wanna_B – I know there are several Wiley people in this thread, maybe bump the post or post the link to it so they can see it more clearly and help. I use Gleim, and I'm not at that section. Sorry I can't help.

GutiParticipantTete, what do you do after you fail? I notice that you always pass on the second time around after getting very close to passing on your first try. You do more mc or more reading?

teeteenounoucheMemberLmao CR7, crossing my fingers for a 4-peat 🙂
I literally stop being afraid of the exam after I fail for some reason…I don't know why but I always do well on the topics that I struggle with and weak on the ones that I thought I had mastered. On the retakes I rewrite notes and do lots more MCQs with explanations. For REG I wrote out my notes for my weak areas over and over. For BEC I wrote formulas over and over. For AUD, I worked on understanding the reports better and lots of MCQs. For FAR, I have to go over every topic and speeding up my MCQs so I don't get so tired.
Basically, the FEAR is what gets me and the FAIL is what slaps me back to reality…

AnonymousInactive@AleFLCPA–I know exactly how you feel. I get down after I do bad on a quiz session or when I go a day without being able to really study, which seems to be happening a lot this week. My positive attitude comes back on the weekends when I have time to study for a long period of time without interruption. I also get bummed when questions are posted on here and I have absolutely no idea how to answer them. It just makes me feel behind, but I know I cam conquer this beast. I just have to keep reminding myself of that. You can do this!

AnonymousInactiveThanks for the encouragement… I guess something good is coming out of getting so many questions wrong bc I'm analyzing the information and taking notes which I'm sure helps. Thats the point of practicing the questions, to learn :0) Happy Friday everyone!!

CPAfitParticipant@mommy I feel the same way on so many days. It's a really good thing we can visit this forum vent out, get motivated by each other, regroup and hit the study material harder 🙂 Hopefully your this week will be a bigger power weekend than the last for all of us. Btw with the number of people calling you mommy on this forum, I guess a more appropriate user name for you would me CPAMOMMYOF30 lol 😉

NJPRUMemberI notice that I too get easily frustrated when I get MCQs in the Gleim subsections wrong as well – it's almost like I revert back to being a child and have a tantrum – and I run off with the mouth saying “maybe I should do REG instead” or “maybe I'm dumb, why can't I remember this, I just read it!!” I think it's normal for us to go through these emotions especially with this exam. After scheduling my exam yesterday I decided to not only practice MCQs but also practice a tiny word called “Patience”.
So, yesterday I continued my investments MCQs and worked on the Equity Method. “Patience” allowed me to go back through the problem, write down the important facts, and understand what the question was pertaining to. When I got something wrong, instead of freaking out, I was able to read why I got it wrong, and took more notes, and got it right on the second time around.
To summarize, for this exam specifically, learn to make “Patience” your friend.
