I’ve had a few requests for April/May Study Groups…March will be here before you know it.

In order to take an early April exam, you should begin studying…now. 🙂

    @Hopeful, yes.

So what does Cinco De Mayo have to do with CPA tests? I mean, I'm asking because I really don't know. LOL

How about taking the test on April Fools' Day? 🙂

It has nothing to do with it, except if we have good news, its more reason to celebrate the holiday.

    BEC: 65 - 79* - 84 DONE
    AUD: 65 - 76 DONE
    REG: 63 - 77 DONE
    FAR: 65 - 63 - 67 - 69 - 73 - 71 - 83 DONE

Cinco de Mayo means drinking if you feel you didn't do well, OR drinking if you are celebrating because you did do well. The way I see it, it's a win-win for all.

@Amor – to each their own I guess! 😛 I would plan on a lot of Margaritas and some Coronas for that day; however, I plan on taking the exam during the second wave, so 5/5 will be a study day for me.

    Hey All-

I'm retaking FAR after finding out today I got a 66 roughly 2 weeks ago…so I am retaing it sometime in April with a short turnaround…I felt pretty good about the MC, but really wasn't comfortable with the SIMS and knew I struggled with them on the exam…I am using Becker, Wiley Test Bank, and NINJA. I have 2 questions:

    1) does anyone have any advice on reviewing for the SIMS, mainly those surrounding Journal Entries? The SIMS in the Becker software are good to learn the format, but did little to help with my actual exam experience, and the J/E's I reviewed I felt weren't taught well to understand but rather to just memorize and I know it's something I need to work on.

    2) in regards to reviewing the MC questions, the FAR questions sometimes take forever to get through, does anyone have any advice on time management for them?

PS I've read some info from first timers, and I remember that's how I felt…I failed 3 exams before my first passing score (REG), and have since passed BEC as well…what I noticed is that you can and will get comfortable with the material, and that the practice questions tend to be much more detailed than the actual test questions…however, it is still tricky as I have found out, but know that if you put the time in you can do it!

Leave as much time as possible for the SIMS. Try to get your MCQ testing down to 1 minute or less for each response. That would leave you 2.5 hours for the SIMS. To reduce your MCQ time, read the last question first, determine what inforamtion you need to answer the question, and then read the rest of the question weeding out information as you go so you are only left with what you really need. Know your calculations, bond entries, and utilitize the authoritative literature as much as possible on the SIMS, not just on the research quesitons. Some of the SIMS can be found word for word and some you will need to use the information to determine the JE for the answer.

Here is a site to help with governmental JEs:

    https://sites.google.com/site/farnotes/gas-34/journal-entries–fund-based-vs-government-wide

And here is a site to help with all the basic JEs:

Look back for posts from pocketsofcash in this forum. He/she scored a 97!

Sorry–not “bond entries” only. I meant to just type journal entries.

I almost forgot I've saved those 2 JE links on my favorites last month.

On the second link for commercial accounting JEs, I clicked every item then copied/pasted using Alt+PrintScreen to a file via MS Word. I compiled all those JEs in 26 pages.

I need my NTS! Sent application yesterday! Hope they are quick and I am approved this week?! I can't remember how long it takes. I assume they will have tons of apps right now though…

I dunno HOW to study because of the dates before April 20 filling up so quickly. Otherwise I will take it mid-May and I am not gonna hardcore review 2 months in advance.

    AUD: 84
    REG: 84
    BEC: 79
    FAR: 83

I think some states take a week to get back to you. I've never had any problems. I usually get it within a day. I'm in Florida. I'm sure there will be something open in April. Good luck!
