I’ve had a few requests for April/May Study Groups…March will be here before you know it.

In order to take an early April exam, you should begin studying…now. 🙂

@CPAMommyof3 Ooooh, I will check into it, thanks. I just remember being a little caught off guard a few times with IFRS but I thought I had prepared for it well from the information that I had available.

Thinking back, the feeling I had for the last couple weeks was the same feeling I had walking out of AUD the first time (71) of passing and not having that extreme feeling of doubt like I did for REG/BEC and KNEW 1000% I failed but passed them both. It's so strange how that works. Also, the fact that when people would ask me how I did for those two exams, I said “100% failed with certainty”, they probably think that it's not as hard as I make it out to be. This time I was just saying like “no idea, never know, probably failed” but thinking in my head that I passed or at least being comfortable with my performance to have passed. I wonder why that is. It also makes me wonder how much more the points for “hard” testlet questions are worth rather than “medium” ones. It seems to be twice or triple the amount of weight.

Also thinking about the SIMS. I checked my answers after the exam and they showed that I at least had the JE accounts correct, but perhaps the numbers were off, but from my knowledge, the numbers WERE correct. I left nothing blank either. I got “weaker” on SIMS when I've gotten “stronger” on all the other 3. I'm confused as to what went SO wrong. I was prepared and did the same thing I did for the other three. I RTMFQ during the exam. I did everything the same. I actually felt more prepared for FAR than for BEC.

If that makes any sense at all. I'm letting myself wallow for like 20 more minutes, then I have to lay it to rest. I've checked my score like 5 times again to make sure that they somehow didn't make a mistake and I actually passed :'( Sorry for the word vomit but I can't talk to anyone in my real life about this cus they don't get it.

    AUD: 84
    REG: 84
    BEC: 79
    FAR: 83

Yesss! You, me, and teetee had the exact same experience pretty much. Failed by 1-3 points and it is our last exam! I think I am taking mine the 12th too! It's the latest available date before cutoff but I'm only sending in my app today so who knows if it will fill up before I get an NTS.

    AUD: 84
    REG: 84
    BEC: 79
    FAR: 83

    @samdiegoCPA,

Thanks for the recommendation! I will check out Roger. Also might use Ninja notes etc. I just need to get passed FAR, so I can focus on REG and AUD.

Wiley has IFRS questions at the end of each MCQ section in the Wiley review book. Also, Becker has IFRS summaries at the end of each section and also the back of the book. This helps. However, I noticed in the actual cpa exam, there are still occasionally IFRS questions that have thrown me off, even though I felt like I knew the material. So next round, I think I will also try Ninja notes or perhaps one of the Ninja packs…

I have Rogers and for each topic he starts with US GAAP then moves to IFRS to then show what the differences are. I heard from other people that use Rogers for FAR that he did a great job in explaining the material.

Last exam – Taking it in May around the 15th.. here we go…………….

Ok, I'm back after my meltdown. I've decided to go through all sections and write notecards and do homework. Then I will just to cumulative MCQ until I'm blue in the face. Any topics I still done understand, I'll make notes/journal entries on the questions I got wrong, then google/ask my dad/listen to the lecture again/dowhateverthehellittakes until I get it.

I plan on doing 1 chapter per day/night…finish F6 tonight, F7 tomorrow, F8 Thursday, F9 Friday, F10 Saturday – then start my major review on Saturday. The fiance and son are gone this weekend so I plan on breathing FAR. So after this week I've got 4 weeks of drilling down practice exams. Scoring in the 50s is not gonna cut it (more like 20s for Bonds…ugh!).

I'm just a horrible test taker, so I realized I have to really grasp what I'm reading/write out the problem in my own words before getting so frustrated I just guess. Even if it takes me 10 minutes to do 1 problem, if it helps me understand then it was 10 minutes worthwhile.

    Happy Monday….haha

Anyone ever heard of the Wiley Study guide? I believe it is different than the focus notes…I was thinking of getting it if it's a slimmed down version of the focus notes

    Florida:
AUD: 73, 81! Thank you Lord!
BEC: 73, 77! Thank you Lord! and WTB
REG: 71, 82! Thank you Lord! and A71

AleFLCPA Yes, in Miami. You too? I just took the 21st and hoping I can get the 20th if someone cancels….might be very unlikely but won't hurt to check. The thought of waiting a month for my score make me want to barf.

    BEC: 73, 81
    AUD: 85
    FAR: 71, 77
    REG: 74, 75...finally DONE! 😀

*This is my 2nd attempt at the CPA exam. For all of you who have failed this exam many times, given up on it, or taken a break like me, remember that it is still possible to finish what you started...failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently 🙂

Oilgas – Don't sweat the meltdowns, it's not a FAR review without at least one along the way. Love the intense schedule to catch up, In with ya!

I still haven't put leases to bed, that is happening tonight. My week 2 review for tomorrow and then it's units 14-16 in Wiley Tues-Thurs. It's going to be a power week for real, studying after work 5-8 through thursday. Leeets do it!

Oh and I disabled my facebook account so I had one less distraction. Hitting that refresh button every time I'm done with a hard question adds up I'm sure! So now I just have you guys as a distraction 🙂

Have lost motivation and this is a slight problem!!!! Birthday weekend, followed by Bachelor Party Weekend, followed by death of Stepfather. All these things have been huge detours and I'm still dealing with the biggest deal of losing a loved one.

I have no idea how to get back on this horse. I haven't even applied for my NTS should I?

    FAR: April or May 2014
    AUD:
    REG:
    BEC:
    Scared: 100

FAR first and only attempt: 2014 Wiley textbook, 10 Pt Combo, and WTB

I only get one try to have to give it my all and try to get 75 on my first go around.

GoingToBeCPA87 – i think you should. Sometimes by just locking in the date based on your study planner will help you start focusing on the exam.

I know its very hard to deal with esp when you have so much happening outside of the CPA exams.

I think once you have set out a realistic study planner and you follow it strictly right up to your exam you will be in get into the Mojo of studying.

I have officially locked in my date May 19th…

@Amay yes I'm in sunny Miami… I had scheduled my test for my this morning because nothing was available but I just checked and smerhing opened up before 4/20 and I changed it. I think 6 weeks of intense studying will be good for passing. I asked my bf yesterday to take my tv from my room so I don't have any distractions any more. I really think that will help as I would take breaks sometimes that I really shouldn't had. I'll do anything into power to pass this exam in April.

@Teetee- I have never heard of the Wiley study guide but maybe in ur case adding a little something might help. I have a friend whos lending me her Wiley focus cards, not sure if those are good.

We all are allowed to be unmotivated for a little, but we need to remember this is out journey for a little while and the great things that will come our way after having that certificate. Positive thoughts going to everyone studying!! :))
