I had a dream I could hand-select the topics I wanted for my exam, and got to pick my simulations. I had testlets full of calculating depreciation different ways and selecting which funds were gov't funds v. proprietary funds, and my sims were just creating bond amortization tables…

    if only…

On January 15, Year 2, before the Mapleview Co. released its financial statements for the year ended December 31, Year 1, it settled a long-standing lawsuit. A material loss resulted and no prior liability had been recorded. How should this loss be disclosed or recognized?

    A. The loss should be disclosed in an explanatory paragraph in the auditor’s report.

    B. The loss should be disclosed, but the financial statements themselves need not be adjusted.

    C. No disclosure or recognition is required.

    D. The loss must be recognized in the financial statements.

@joe I'm pretty sure you'll ace this exam just like @brainfarts said you're one of the top students of this class so just relax and enjoy man.

For all others who still haven't taken the exam, just keep doing what you're doing. You guys are in the right direction and it's pretty obvious from the discussions in this thread that your concepts are solid. Just keep at it and you'll pass this exam. I believe in each and every one of you πŸ™‚

I have a question and bit puzzled about

An entity authorised 500,000 shares of common stock. At Jan 1 Y2 the entity had 110,000 shares of common stock issued and 100,000 shares of common shares outstanding. The entity had the following transactions in Y2:

March 1 …..Issued 15,000 shares of common stock

June 1 …….Resold 2,500 shares of treasury stock

Sept ………. 2-1 common stock Split

What is the total number of shares of common stock that the entity has outstanding at year end y2?

Now my question is this – if we had to use this data for the BEPS – what would get as the answer and how will it be different from the answer you get above?
