hopeimnottoolatetobeacpaMemberHI everyone, how many of you can actually function on studying from just 6 hours of sleeping? How do you do it? I am planning on getting up 2 hours earlier to squeeze in some time to study every morning but i am the type of person who needs 7-8 hours of sleep. Has it been effective for you guys in absorbing the materials with the 2 or more hours sleep sacrifice? Any tips? – Thanks! and Happy Studying!

teeteenounoucheMemberCoffe Coffe Coffee and more Coffee…but it does feel good when I actually get 8 hours. I feel refreshed and not like a zombie so I am going to work that into my schedule this time. No more reality TV 🙁

Wanna_B_TXCPA2014Participant@hopeimnottoolatetobeacpa Ive been going off of 6hrs of sleep for awhile. Like Alex Rodriguez I use PED (Performance Enhancing Drinks). My wife has got me hooked on Advocare's Spark and I drink coffee. My level of alertness varies but I think that maybe a function of how stressful my workday was.
The other thing I think is important with a reduce sleep schedule is eating properly. I try and make sure of not to eat to much salt and carbs bc I find they make me sluggish. Also lots of water, I drink anywhere from a 1/2 gal to 1gal a day.

hopeimnottoolatetobeacpaMember@teeteenounouche and @Wanna_B_TXCPA2014 , thank you for the tips!!, i will try getting up a couple of hours earlier next week and start my day with coffee, i usually don't do well with only 6 hours of sleep but maybe it will take sometime to get used to..@Wanna_B, i think you're absolutely right, eating properly would help, i tend to gravitate to eating unhealthy snacks that would make me feel better in like 5 minutes..but then feel so sluggish afterwards…
We'll see, I hope i can stay focus for the entire day!! Thanks guys and happy studying! 🙂

oilgaslbMemberMental breakdown time. I can't make it through the bonds section of F5, and even doing progress tests everything still seems like a foreign language and I can't pass – even if the homework for certain sections made sense.
I don't know how to get the information to stick. I feel like an idiot. I don't know if I should just create my notes/do homework for the remaining sections, then focus on MCQ over and over again for all sections after that…or what. The time I'm taking away from my son to study and not increase my knowledge is very discouraging and I don't know how much more I can take. I just want to have an “AH HA!” moment, and nothing is coming….I've only got 1 month until my exam and I have over 1/2 of the material left…and not solid on the 1/2 I have under my belt.
Help 🙁

hopeimnottoolatetobeacpaMember@oilgaslb, i hear you, but don't give up! Take a break and restart reading the chapter slowly and do the MCQ's again with purpose of just learning it and it's okay if the answer is wrong, i am studying Statement of Cash Flow now and need to watch the video twice and pause the video and take notes while watching so that i understand better, and going to take my MCQ's after, it is slowing down my studying process by watching the video twice and take notes, but that's the process of learning, just do it again and again until it sticks and make sure not to panic, take a deep breath, do some stretching or some relaxing activities and go back to the material. Hope it helps!! 🙂 You can do it!!!

jrosen92770Participantoilgaslb – You are not alone in that one. I am working on some F2 howe works and have to keep referring to my notes for answers. I keep reminding myself that I have been out of school for quite some time (since 1994) so it will take time for it to soak in. Here is a saying that may help when you start thinking beyond the present moment: “Our main business is not to see what lies dimly at a distance, but to do what clearly lies at hand”.

hopeimnottoolatetobeacpaMember@jrosen92770. F-2 is very challenging for me too!! i think a lot of people feel the same way about F-2, i need to redo the homework/MCQs twice for me to sticks..and it hasn't been too long for me to be out of school!!! Hang in there!

Wanna_B_TXCPA2014Participant@oilgaslb usually when I feel like your are feeling I hop over to CPAreviewforfree and go through there questions. Right or wrong I cut and paste the answers in word and do one of two things. Write out journal entries or turn to my book and create my own write up of the concept based on the question. The reason being there are no stats with this site like your study software. To me its a way to get some extra learning without pulling down my average in the Wiley test bank.
The problem with this test is that you are being tested over concepts and their Dr/Cr that are unfamiliar. I think you have to find someway to related this stuff to concepts and logic patterns you are already familiar with. Im still working on ways to make this information my own. Hope this helped.

Wanna_B_TXCPA2014ParticipantCan someone enlighten me as to what Im missing in my understanding of this example?
Pg 418 Solution to Part A
Item 3. Actual loss or (actual return) on plan assets: Why are the signs reversed compared to the Schedule of Changes in Plan Assets on pg 417?
Item 4 Amortization of prior service cost: I am not understanding the calculation of the numerator in either calculation
Item 5. Deferred gain/(loss): I do not understand the calculation of the service years

AnonymousInactiveI keep posting stuff on other threads that I mean to post here. Geez.
I don't know about you guys but I think there is going to be an increase in my studying efficiency starting tomorrow. I don't know what it is about daylight savings but when it gets dark at 5:30 I am just not motivated because I feel like my night is already over. I am always more productive from March to October. It's 7 p.m. and the sun is still up. I love this!!

samdiegoCPAMemberWelp, joining this thread is something I didn't want to do!
Sending off my application tomorrow and planning on sitting April 10. The week after is completely full already (is there a reason for this that I am not aware of) and I want to be in on the early May release.
Starting on Tuesday since I'm still recovering from my 74 and tomorrow is Bachelor finale 😛
