AnonymousInactive@Stoleway, you originated the partnership question and so, where's the explanation that comes with it?

Answer (C) is correct.
If $60,000 (the fair value of Corβs original contribution) is 50% of the partnership capital, the total initial capital is $120,000, and goodwill of $40,000 should be recognized ($120,000 β $60,000 β $20,000 cash contributed by Eng). Thus, Engβs initial capital is $60,000.
Answer is A….see explanation below
Answer (A) is correct.
Net position has three components. Net investment in capital assets includes unrestricted and restricted capital assets, net of (1) accumulated depreciation and (2) related liabilities and deferred inflows and outflows of resources. Restricted net position includes restricted assets minus related liabilities and deferred inflows of resources. The restrictions are imposed by external entities (creditors, grantors, or other governments) or by law (constitutional provisions or enabling legislation). Unrestricted net position is the net of (1) assets, (2) deferred inflows and outflows of resources, and (3) liabilities not included in the other components of net position. Thus, it is a residual category. Unrestricted net position includes items that may be internally committed or assigned (designated). These commitments and assignments are not reported on the face of the statements.

AnonymousInactive@Stoleway, thanks.
I was thinking of picking “D” for $40,000 for an answer.
[60,000 + 20,000 = 80,000 Γ· 2**** = 40,000]
**** 50% OR an equal initial capital balance****
Which would be definitely wrong to have 2 of the partners get $40,000 each.
Cannot go under the $60,000 share of the other partner, which I should remember on the test!

lauren725Memberwell, I think looking at my becker final exam just confirmed that I am not ready for this at all. I know people say these are harder than the actual exam, but I wanted to review it just to get an idea of some weak spots I should work on. I am not sure if that was a good idea or not because apparently I have a lot of weak areas. Yikes.
I feel like I have been trying to get too much into the details on some of the chapters and now I am thinking I may need to change my strategy these last few days. With audit, the becker final exam made me confident, with FAR it has just terrified me more. :/ ugh why did I do that to myself!

AnonymousInactive@Lauren, what score did you get on your practice final test?
I attempted it 3 weeks ago. I scored only 67% so I pushed my schedule back to the end of May.
In Q1, I scored 44% one day before the last day of the testing period. I reviewed the entire test and worked really really hard in the last day of my review. My final test score was 73.
I am going to take my 2nd practice final test on or before Monday.

lauren725MemberHi Amor, thanks for the response. I only really did the first testlet and I am probably in the mid 50's. I am looking through the other two testlets shortly but I would probably say they are about the same. Wow, that is a huge swing with your 1st quarter results. How did you prepare in the last day? Did you use the practie test to identify weak areas and mainly focus on them? That is pretty impressive.

AnonymousInactiveThanks Lauren. I agree with you. I am pretty impressed of the leap I made from the final practice test as compared to my actual test the next day. I was surprised I was able to pull that off too, given the limited time in February. If Feb had only 29 days, I would have scored 2 extra points more. I could only wish!
I had the worst headache (like extraordinary from Income Statement, unusual & infrequent) of my life with my practice final test. The following day, I could rate the headache I felt on the final FAR test as just an ordinary one.
So I don't really believe that practice final test should discourage the candidates. It's going to be pointless only when we don't review them after the result. Practice final test is like conquering a tiger first, then a lion next. We have to beat these animals up, stab in every part we can reach to finally destroy them.
SIMS helped me on the final test. I answered them IN ORDER, never skipped an item, even if I was not sure what was being asked. I got to put my answer in less than 12 minutes before moving on to the next item. If we decide to skip it because we are not able to figure out what to do, then we lose substantial minutes of the supposed train of thought we already gathered just by reading it.

WANNABE_CPAMemberi have a confusion here, when we reconcile Fund financial statements,
Why is PRINCIPAL EXPENDITURE ON DEBT ADDED BACK ON Statement of Revenues, Expenditures and changes in fund balance?
