@holycow I think you should finish Module 12 then do Deferred Taxes Mon-Wed then SHE and Investments Thurs- Sat. I had a tough time with Deferred Taxes so I would suggest putting the one first and SHE and Investments seem to be a little better for me.
I think doing Module 13 together is smart bc it so long and should get some reinforcement present value by doing it all together.
Oh CPAMommy dealing with sales people/ operations is no different than dealing with children. I never really understood why for all the 90 day stuff my managers had at the beginning of a month they suddenly at the end of month couldn't figure that what was not collected gets written off, and in turn reduces your commission bc bad debt is controllable expense.
I would think not to much should get past 60 days if you are working your accounts as you should, but Im an acct. It took awhile to train my managers, but I eventually got them to the point of reviewing the report themselves bc I wasnt going to make time for their questions.
I digress bc 4/12/14 is around the corner for you! Im rooting for you to get out of there earlier than 5pm maybe like 4:57pm 🙂
Module 13 is a beast. I'm doing it together but giving myself the whole week, longer if needed. The concepts are critical to get down, IMO. Deferred Taxes is short but at first glance looks confusing as hell hah…
Well keep me posted of what your plans are. I think I maybe able to change my plans and sync up with you. Ive fallen behind do to things being crazy with work. So I have to figure where Im going to restart.
Sure thing, Ive got a pretty crazy scheduled pace (no Idea if I can stick to it) I've decided to just plow through the MCQs in the book beginning to end, reviewing the chapters when there are particularly difficult or detailed concepts and take notes. If any of the concepts begin to weigh me down (i.e they just arent clicking) my plan is to take detailed notes for later review and move on. So I'm going for finishing up 13 this week, then 3 modules a week for 3 weeks. Each with 100-200 MCQ as a week end and to date review. That leaves two weeks of review where I plan to spend at least half the time focusing on weaknesses, some of it refreshing my strengths, and the rest on topics I've classified as memorization (I.e IFRS and crap like that). At least, that's the plan…
I finished up F8 earlier this afternoon, went for a workout afterwards and called it good for tonight. Will be starting F9 tomorrow and hopefully get that done before Monday.
Does anyone feel like they can't retain the information after the first round through the material? I hope that when I start reviewing, things will stick better.
@SpartanCPA – I am on F9 now. Studied F8 last week. Since I have never seen Governmental Accounting/NFP before these chapters have been challenging. I find myself going back to lectures, re-reading the chapter and listening to NinjaAudio to understand the nuts and bolts. And yeah, once you start reviewing everything that you've studied so far, it'll stick better coz then you will be doing tons of MCQs and reviewing your notes.
@Spartan–Yes. I feel the exact same way. It's a little disheartening because it feels like I'm reading another language at times, but it does start to come together during review.
@cracked. I did. 9-midnight. I have to be at work at 8:30 today to finish up our financials before they are turned in at 9:00. I've only been averaging about 5-6 hours of sleep a night because I've been trying to study after the girls go to bed. I don't know why but with FAR if I take even one day off without doing anything I feel like I fall behind. With BEC and AUD I was able to only study on the nights my girls slept at their grandparents and still pass. They are having a sleepover all weekend because they're going to some festival all day tomorrow so I'm going to try to do 20+ hours between tonight and Sunday. Power Weekend! Who's with me??
I went to bed early last night hoping to knock this miserable cold out – no luck. Maybe it's a sinus infection? I plan on doing 2-3 hours tonight, 12 hours tomorrow, and 8 hours Sunday. I'm sorry…scratch that…I don't PLAN on doing that – I WILL!
Ugh … I take my first exam on May 10 …. I joke that the testing place is across the street from the Mother ship (Target) so I should be ok LOL! NOT!…. I am finishing up Becker for Far this week and tried to get as much time to study for it … I am so worried about it … I get 80's on my MCQs Tests but I know come test day my mind is going to go blank …
ANYWAY… Any advice on how much to study and how to actually study now that my review is over? I need to stay focused and thats why I liked the review kept me on task …
@Brooke…you are done with the Becker review, you're getting 80's in MCQ, and your test isn't until May 10th? I HIGHLY recommend pushing your test up and taking it sooner rather than later. You're in prime condition to pass, I'd say.
