    I’ve had a few requests for April/May Study Groups…March will be here before you know it.

    In order to take an early April exam, you should begin studying…now. 🙂

    @amor – you're right. I am just now in panic mode and thinking what else they can throw at you, but they would have to provide us with the undiscounted CF to do that if it were a simulation right? I think I'm starting to go crazy over this test.

    Also, I am using my becker book from years ago, but 2013 becker software. The components of relevance and what used to be reliability (now representational faithfulness) have changed since my book. Can someone please list out what is correct.

    2011 Becker:

    Relevance: predictive value, feedback value, timeliness

    Reliabilility: neutrality, representation faithfulness, verifiability

    2013 Becker:

    Relevance: predictive value, feedback/confirming value, neutrality

    Rep Faithfulness: neutrality, completeness, freedom from error

    *Timeliness – is now related to both

    @Stoleway, thanks for clarifying that.

    US GAAP says for Step 2 when FV is not available, our alternative is to use Discounted Cash Flow.

    So guys, what is the difference between Undiscounted CF and Discounted CF?

    Do you guys know why we use the equity method when we are dealing with minority interest on a consolidation? The equity method is use when we own 20% to 50% of a company and the minority interest is the part we don’t own. Why use the equity method on something you dont own?

    On January 2, 20X1, Paye Co. purchased Shef Co. at a cost that resulted in recognition of goodwill of $200,000 having an expected benefit period of 10 years. During the first quarter of 20X1, Paye spent an additional $80,000 on expenditures designed to maintain goodwill. Due to these expenditures, on December 31, 20X1, Paye estimated that the benefit period of goodwill was 40 years. For 20X1, Paye assessed impairment to be $7,000. In its December 31, 20X1, balance sheet what amount should Paye report as goodwill?

    Answer: $193,000

    My question is why did we not record amortization here???
