I’ve had a few requests for April/May Study Groups…March will be here before you know it.

In order to take an early April exam, you should begin studying…now. 🙂

@nclynch–The answer should have been yes to both. All income statement accounts use the weighted average exchange rate to translate.

@stoleway–Thank you for your convertible bond explanation. That is the only thing I just can't get with bonds and my quiz results are a direct reflection of missing the convertible problems. I wrote down your explanation and I'm going to redo all the ones I missed in hopes that I've got it now. Thanks again!

you're welcome, how far are you with your review? when is your exam?

    @FutureCPAinGA

You are right about your calculation, this is just one of those poorly worded questions.

My test is next Saturday and my scores are decreasing. I don't know if I'm just burnt out, tired, stressed from work or what, but I am definitely going backwards in my learning. When is your test?

    #563118

@CPAMommyof3 my exam is this coming Friday and I feel the same way. It's like the more I study the worse the score is and I get so discouraged. It's so hard to stay focused on all this material when there's just so much of it!

    BEC - 87!
    FAR - 83!
    AUD - 80!
    REG - 76!

    I'M DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PRAISE GOD!!!!!!

@mamabear…wow, you are so close to exam day, sorry for the declining scores, its a buzz killer for sure but you still don't have to stress about it.

Select your questions randomly and do what you can on a daily basis. I was thinking of finishing up FAR by end of this month but I don't think that's going to happen. I am 70% through reading the phone book and solving all mcqs and sims in my review course.

This process is slowing me down simply because there is too much to cover for FAR. I think I might finish off the initial review by the end of this month and I definitely have to give myself 1 month to review everything. I think my test will probably fall on may ending. I haven't scheduled any date yet so it gives me the flexibility to finish hard.

    REG -63│ 84!!
    BEC- 59│70│ 71 │78!
    AUD- 75!
    FAR- 87!

@Readytograduate–Yep–That's how I feel. I was scoring in the 70s and 80s on nearly every section and this weekend I am doing sets of 30 per section after reviewing my notes and the Becker Outline notes by section and now I'm in the 50s and 60s for most topics. On some topics I can pinpoint the areas that need work, like convertible debt in the Bonds section, which is fine because if I know I understand everything else about bonds then I can just focus on that one thing, take another quiz and probably do well on it. It's the topics that I can't pinpoint my problem when I get demotivated. They just make me feel like I don't understand anything. It's frustrating to say the least. I hope it gets better for you. Good luck on Friday!

    @stoleway
–You sound like you're in pretty good shape. Good luck to you! And thanks for the advice.

I can remember how to calculate the area of a triangle from 7th grade geometry (1/2*base*height), but I can't remember calculations for consolidations and what to include/eliminate that I have been studying for the past month to save my life. Kicking myself in the butt for not pursuing this right after grad school. Come on man! Get it together!!!

I gave my exam on friday and have been drinking ever since.. Exam as expected did not get harder at all so not a good sign.. The sims were totally doable for ppl who have prepared well, no crazy journals .. Had to pick between the accounts, only one i had to write down the journal entries.. .. I got 2 research , one which i had to leave blank cause i just could not figure it out..i left 2 hours for sims, but i ended up wasting too much time searching the AL to confirm stuff..i had a panic attack few days b4 the exam and i totally stopped studying, so that hurt me bad.. So relax and do not loose it in the end .. I had lots of far 8 and 9 ..good luck to all of you and hope not to see any of you in the july-aug far study group! I am going to meet my family after 4 long years so i am soo happy and will not touch far books again for next one whole month!

Cpamommy all the best i really think you have prepared well and will do good!

    Finally done!!! Experience-pending. Ethics- Pending.

@pia–You probably didn't notice any increase in difficulty because you were well prepared. Good luck to you. Enjoy your time off. I'll see you in the score release on the 2nd! Thanks for the encouragement.

OK guys–if any of you have a moment to assist with my problem areas I would appreciate it. These are my weak areas and I'm not sure how to get thise stuff down…I have the Ninja Notes, the Wiley book and the Becker Outline Notes and I have been googling concepts that I still don't get. As I go over my notes everything makes complete since, but applying it to the questions is my problem, which is what matters on the exams. I have 5 days to get these areas down. I truly cannot afford to retake this test or spend more time studying. I miss spending quality time my children!!! Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. These are all the topics that I scored less than 70% on this weekend. In addition, I know I still need help on EPS and pensions. I'm taking those quizzes in a few minutes.

Foreign currency Translation (53%)–I need to remember when to use which exchange rates

Partnerships (56%)–I need to figure out a way to remember the calculations and bonus vs goodwill

Consolidations (57%)–Issues on pretty much everything

Bonds (63%)–I need to work on Convertible Debt

Deferred Taxes (63%)–just need to practice more

Leases (65%)–Sale leasebacks and remembering to deduct that initial payment before applying interest

NFP–Need to work on the statements–memorization

    Derivatives (67%)-memorization

Hey CPAMomma – At the moment, I am not sure I have much to contribute, but I will say you are definitely prepared, just be careful that you do not hurt your over all confidence for a few week areas.

    BEC - 5/26/2013 75
    REG - 8/31/2013 82
    AUD - 11/24/2013 74, 2/9/2014 92
    FAR - 5/25/2014 85

Welcome back JRo!! I'm fine. I just want to do as much as I can to understand these topics before Friday. I even contact our external auditor to see if he could help because he passed FAR only studying for two weeks. He knows this stuff backwards and forwards. I just know there are ways to remember this stuff and I need to find out what those ways are.
