I’ve had a few requests for April/May Study Groups…March will be here before you know it.

In order to take an early April exam, you should begin studying…now. 🙂

CPA Mom – Don't feel too bad. I got as far as Nonmonetry Exchange in Fixed Assets…tried re-reading it four times and I still didn't get it. That's when I closed that damn Wiley book with a thump. Tomorrow is another day…

holycow – Inventory was pretty straight forward to me, it seemed like the reserve portion was pretty small although you never know. I'm trying to at least understand as much as possible on the first read and taking notes on anything that doesn't stick…more emphasis if the topics also end up in the NINJA Notes….

    MBA,CMA,CPA, CFF?, ABV?

Took the exam on the 25th and decided that I will continue to study FAR until score release day. Might be joining everyone here soon! Good Luck in all your studying guys.

@holycow–I noticed that too! When I worked the MCQ I remember thinking some of those questions were out of place. I attempted them and if I got them wrong I went back to them after I covered the appropriate secton. I don't recall noticing that on any other modules so far.

I just reread some of my posts and I should get a free Ninja T-shirt for how much I promote Ninja materials on here. 🙂

Wrapping up with F8 (Governmental Accounting) this week. What I am worried about is how I should use time effectively during final review? Leaving 2 weeks for final review. When people post questions here on something I studied 6 weeks ago, i look at the question and think “Did I even study this?”….man, this FAR is a beast!!

@cracked–I agree. I try to at least do one 20 question MCQ each week on the topics I covered in prior weeks to keep in sort of fresh. By the time I hit the 2 week final review I am just quizzing, quizzing, quizzing and rewriting notes on sections that I am still weak in and quizzing some more.

Good Morning everyone! I hope all of your studying went very well! 🙂

I finished chapter 2 of 20 yesterday in Gleim which covered: Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Comprehensive Income, Personal Financial Statements, and First time Adoption of IFRS procedures.

I'll be taking a small break tonight (bites tongue) as my family and I are going to a hockey game (no excuses, but I have the whole weekend free to knock out 2 more chapters).

Next up is “Income Statement Components” which includes EPS, Extraordinary items, Discontinued Ops, etc.

    AUD: DONE
    FAR: DONE
    BEC: DONE
    REG: DONE

IM GOING TO BE A CPA!!!!!

@NJPRU–enjoy the game! I took a break off to attend a Bacardi party. Can't say no to free food and alcohol all night! Don't feel bad about the break. We all need it everyone once in a while!

CPAMom – Thats a good idea and I try doing that. I'd trying knocking few MCQ's during lunch hour. However, I try to listen to NINJA Audio of random topics as time permits during the day. Understanding the material is one thing but keeping it all fresh is a mammoth task! Lol. I know the NINJA way asks that personal notes or the NINJA notes be re-written. How long would that take? I'm sure its worth it but should I leave that task for the last few days?

@ Cracked, Jeff gives a breakdown of the time to rewrite notes at the beginning of the Ninja Notes, on page 7 I think. He recommends 15 pages a day, roundabouts.

Using Ninja MCQ, NINJA Notes, Audio, Flashcards and BLITZ, and 2014 Wiley Text

    FAR - (61,63)
    AUD - (68)

    Keep Calm and RTMFQ

So I failed taking a 2nd progress test last night. I'm going to knock one out at work today, then listen to audio/do flashcards while I wait at the DMV (ummm my temp. plate on my new car expired 2 months ago…WHOOPS).

I also just had an epiphany. I never workout at lunch because I think studying is more important. My fiance keeps insisting I make time for it to clear my head/get healthy/stay focused/be happy. Now that I have NINJA audio AND flashcards – there is nothing stopping me from studying those while working out! Starting Monday of course (how many times have we all said that?)

Then between tonight and tomorrow I will knock out notecards and MCQ for Working Capital/Fixed Assets, and maybe even Leases/Liabilities/Bonds.

Am I the only one that doesn't know what bonus/increase in salary would be if I passed, so I tell myself it will be a $10,000 bonus and a $30,000 increase just to use as motivation? haha!

@UHC2005 – Thanks. I just checked that. So it'll take a week to rewrite everything. I might spend an hour or two a day to rewrite the 15 pages.

@oilgas – I wish I could stay motivated enough to work out. I think it's important and it keeps you refreshed and sane. What date is your FAR scheduled?

@cracked – it's on 4/12…I've fallen behind like I always do, but this time I actually have motivation to catch back up. I can't afford to fail again – gotta save one fail for Reg before BEC expires hahah

Mine is on 04/12 too. We can do it!! Rewriting your notes should take a while if you took a lot of notes. I can only rewrite one or two sections a day before my hand starts cramping. What I will probably do next week (Week 2) is rewrite the notes of the sections I studied this week, take a 20 MCQ set on each of those sections, jot down which areas I am weak in (scoring less than 85% in), and then start studying new sections. I'll do the same thing in week 3 for the material I covered in week 2. Sogoing into the review weeks I will have already read, taken notes, and quizzed on each section, rewritten the notes on that section and taken an additional “progress” quiz and made note of my weak areas. During review I will study my weak areas again and quiz on everything to stay fresh, but focus on quizzing and retaining my weak areas. This is a new way for me. Does it sound like enough?

Well that was a bust – I don't think I've ever been upset about not having a long line at the DMV. 11 minutes in and out!!! No time to listen to more than 1 audio chapter. Oh well. I'm going to squeeze in my progress test now 🙂
